I am pretty sure the 08 had the updates, not sure about the 06. I would call yamaha or a good yamaha dealer with the serial #'s and see what they say

just in case you didn't already know, the fuel and oil consumption is pretty bad with the HPDI 300

Impossible to be 2008's. They stopped making them in 2007 unless its a 20" shaft. If they are 25 or 30" shafts they might be 2007 motors on a 2008 hull. Most updates were done by late 2005 (t-stats--cowl seal etc). The last update was the oil pump in the fall of 2007.

They have been very reliable since late 2005. They got their bad reputation for 2004 (first year) and early 2005.

The only way to know for sure is to call Yam with the serial #!!!

My motor has 350 hours and currently was well over 100 hours on the plugs.

Good luck!

I had to take mine to receive the updates and I have an 06. Just call yamaha with the serial numbers and they will provide you with the record. The only thinkg I dont like about the HPDI's(all of them) is the fuel related issues. THey are very delicate towards ethanol and have many filters to replace. Other then that I like my 300hpdi.
ANd I almost forgot, if you troll alott expect to go thru plugs(not everyone has this issue but I do since I think my oil pump was adjusted on the rich side during the oil pump recall).

I owned 2 05 300s with all updates...in short they never missed a beat. I loved them and never had plug fouling issues. Ethanol was not around, however, when I had mine. I would own them again in a heartbeat. Good luck

We will see how it turns out.

Thanks again guys
Even though you probably will be getting very reliable motors......they are worth about as much as much as your anchor due to all of the bashing when they first came out. Let the seller know that and use that to your advantage when negotiating the price.
