Default Trolling Gear

I am looking to make some runs out of Orange Beach this summer and try to get some tuna. I am thinkin of getting a couple of used Intl or Tiagra 30 2 speeds. I would also like these to double up for large grouper and amberjack. What rod would you suggest putting these on. Also whats the differnce in all the models of the 30's?

I would leave 30s alone and get 50Ws.

+1

Save the coin and get the TLD50II LRSA for your trolling reels. You will not be using your trolling gear for reef fishing. Just get you some $100 sealines or senators and keep those as your reef reels. I am always more careful with my trolling gear and I have those lined and rigged way different than I do for my reef gear.

Will I be able to handle the 50's with ease. I have two Tiagra 80's that I dont know that ill use because they are so heavy and only fishing from a 22' CC.

The TLDIIs are graphite and probably less than half the overall weight than the 80s. Go to Shimano website and check them out. 30s just dont give you the line cap unless kingfishing or sailfishing. No less than 50s my friend for the tunas, wahoos, other billfish.

Yeah, I knew there was a big weight difference, but was curious about the size and being able to handle them. I appreciate the advice. I will go with the TLD 50's. I will probably try to by a slightly used combo but given the option, what suggestions would you give one the Rod? Again, thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it. I've done a good bit of bottom fishing but this all is very new to me.

I'll trade you two penn 50's for those 80's. I'll even throw in the rods for good measure.
