Default Polishing stainless props

any tips on polishing/ buffing out rust flecks on 'stainless' props?

i've got some brasso, but was wondering if there is a product more specific to the task. and want kind of cloth/applicator to use other than iron wool?

as always thanks in advance for the help.

Using anything steel on them (like iron wool) rubs steel molecules into the surface and will make them rust like crazy.

Scotchbrite, Bar Keepers Friend, and some elbow grease.

Dupont #7 Chrome and Metal Polish. I've tried them all, Flitz, Collonite, Turtle Wax, etc. The Dupont #7 is fantastic. Takes the rust spots off with minimal elbow grease. Very popular with Motorcycle crowd to polish their rides. Try National Auto Stores or on-line stores to purchase.

Default polish?

A light dusting on a sandbar will do the trick.

I clean my PowerTech polished prop with Meguires cleaner/wax at the end of each season. After 4 seasons it looks like the day it came out of the box.

x2 on the muratic acid, mix 50/50 with water. Use a stainless polish to help it last longer. Muratic will also eat the rust off other metal parts when neccessary.

I will throw this out there. If you take your props to a prop shop that does high performance work they can polish them to a mirror finish. Once you get them like that, they are very easy to keep looking great. Polished props dont hold salt water and they dont rust in my experience. All my props are polished and look great with nothing more than a rinse after use.
