Default Rejex Question

I put 2 coats on after a buff about six monts ago and am happy with results

boat still looks good but its time for a new coat

Is it better to buff and put 2 new coats on or just wash and go over the six month old rejex

Am I supposed to clean old coat of rejex off before applying new coat ?

Thanks in advance !!

I defer to Glen E and his expertise and add a question to him.

I also wash the boat with Dawn, but following that and the boat's dry again, I wet a rag with alcohol and rub the boat, too. The purpose (in my mind, anyway) is to remove any remaining wax and also to remove any soap residue.

Is this just too much overkill for a boat?

Nah...that's Ok...but I would use mineral spirits and then dawn again if you want to be super anal about it...

from painting experience, it seems that mineral spirits/paint thinner can leave residue.

I thought that alcohol was as effective as Dawn about removing wax.

Since rejex isn't a wax, is that why we should use paint thinner instead of alcohol?

What about removing wax? Alcohol or paint thinner?

Wash it with a non-stripping boat soap and re-apply the rejex. I've been doing it that way for several years after initially polishing the hull with 3m's FinesseIt II. This picture was taken in 2008, 3 years after I polished it:

Beautiful photo, Doug. What I read from your post is to wash what's there and apply more Rejex without regard to existing/remaining product. Is that your experience?

Thanks. Yes. That's all I'll be doing again this year, but maybe things are different if the boats in the southern sun all year. My boat is in a yard covered to below the waterline 6-7 mos per year.
