Suzuki motors

I have a small fishing boat which had an old 78 Johnson motor on it, which went bad and the repair guy told us he has a 1985 50HP Suzuki motor for sale.

My question is, is it worth buying being it is so old? Is the reputation for these motors good? And also approximatly how fast would it go on a small fishing boat?

P.S. I know nothing about boats.

How big is the little boat? What is the HP of the previous motor. What are the hours on the prospective Suzuki? Heres why, often you will find "old" outboards with hardly any use etc.

Suzi's have an excellent reputation. Recently they went to 10% 4 strokes. You can prpbably find a new left over EFI 2 stroke dirt cheap, with the 6 year warranty.
