Default Gunwale Height - CC28/32, Henriques 28, Albemarle 290XF

Being rather tall at 6' 1" feeling like I am inside a boat rather than on top of it is important to me. Every boat I step on board is measured and tested for height to see where the coaming comes up to on my legs and I personally like it mid-thigh.

So in looking at boat specifications, it seems this measurement is something that nobody publishes.

Specifically I need the gunwale height measurement for the following boats;

Carolina Classic 28
Carolina Classic 32
Henriques 28
Albemarle 290XF

And I may as well throw in the Albemarle 31/310 as well.

Can anybody help me with these measurements? Or even if you don;t have the exact measurement, tell me where the gunwale comes to on your legs and how tall you are.

Thanks in advance.

32 carolina.......you can judge the height by the 75lb grouper....I mean the 5 gallon bucket.

28 carolina, close to the same. Both boats were just above the knees, Not real high. Have not lost anybody yet..........yet.

You have listed some of the better fishing models, by design cockpit gunnel heights are lower than say a cruiser cockpit. There is a reason for that and it has to do with being able to tag, release and basically touch the water without falling overboard trying to do so. You want high sides, don't look for them in a fishing boat that is well designed for fishing.

Sleeper you make a good point and I understand the reasoning, but I just can't stand a boat with gunwale height lower than just above my knees. I have seen a couple of boats such as a Bertram 31, Mirage 32 and Maybe the Blackfin 32/33 Sportfishers that have extremely low gunwales.

Default Henriques

28 Henriques....I'm 6'0 and it is about mid thigh with nice big coaming pads. I know exactly what you are talking about, as I did the same comfort fit trial when I was shopping. The blackfin was too low for my liking....still a great boat though.
