The boat will take far more than you can.

If you have to ask, you should probably stay inshore until you gain more experience.

24.6 Miles, and that's pretty much it. Any further and that boat will sink.

The water is less dense the deeper you go.

Alot to consider about going offshore. How much exp. do you have. What type of fuel cap. does the boat have. What type of safty eqt. do you have.
At the min. I would say a epirb, vhf, Radar, life raft, gps.
I had a 19' kencraft and I wasnt confortable in taking it past 10 mile. I have a 23' regulator and Ill take that out 80 miles.
Be prepared for anything and watch the weather.
Just my 2 cents.

Heres my 21 footer off of West End last summer.

Its more about the captain and the weather that will dictate how far offshore you should be in ANY boat.

I've had my little Whaler out around 12 miles but it you could see an air bubble bust 50 yards away it was so flat and I wasn't by myself.

Be careful and get some hours on your boat. It would be easy to go 50 miles offshore and only burn 12 gallons of gas, next thing you know the waves and wind pick up, you can't go directly into the wind and waves with out taking water. You may need 60 gallons to get back if you have it and most of that travel will be in the dark.

True, however go to a 22 degree V bottom and you're good to 35 miles on most boats. Go to 24 degrees and you can cross the entire ocean.

Well, after being in the business since I was in my teens, now at sixty five, I sure cant answer your question.
Perhaps there's those that wish to.

21ft what?....a 21 contender is comfortable going 50+ even in some slop....a 21 carolina skiff...not so much....fuel range and weather are everything when considering offshore running....

The answer would need to take into account the quality, maintenace, safety eqiuptment and type of boat as well as the experience of the captain.

Since we do not have any of this info, no informed opinion can be made.

It depends what color it is. Red boats are faster but white ones are safer.
