OT, but in the same vein:
I made a spreadsheet document with my winter to-do list for my old Grady. Ended up being like a log. As time went on, I just would add what was needed to the list, put the date I did it in the columns to the right. Had it for 9 years, it was a great way to keep track.. When I had her for sale I emailed it to a couple guys, and the guy who bought it appreciated it...

Reason: forgot about the fresh water pumps I rebulit
I have already started on mine
1) Remove ugly faded bottom paint, repaint hull chime to chime and fix a couple of minor bumps and dings.
2) install new trolling motor and battery up front.
3) install stereo and speakers
4).change lower unit grease and water pump (will do this w/in the next couple of weeks)
5). check and clean poppit valve (I have never so it is probably a good time)
and finish the year up next late fall or winter, strip the deck and have it repainted and all the nicks fixed..
I know I am leaving stuff out!!

I have the boat on the trailer this week to get my projects done for this year. I just finished up the last project.
One was to pull both lower units and install new water pumps kits and drive shaft seals. Did that on Sunday.
I have always had a single hydraulic cylinder with a tie bar on my twin engines. This is supposed to be good up to 500 HP but the boat would feel sloppy at 60 MPH. So I was wanting to add a cylinder to the other engine but I was reluctant to buy a matching Seastar cylinder because of my gripe about the helm I had, but I got such good deal on a new in the box cylinder that I had to do it. Besides, the cylinders seem to hold up well unlike the helms.
So today I added the cylinder to the other engine along with a new twin cylinder tie bar kit which also got a great deal on. All I had to do was go to the hydraulic supply joint and get a couple of T fittings and two jumper hoses made, which they did in about 10 mins.
I have about $550.00 in the entire steering project and it took me about 2 hours. I also flushed all the old fluid out and replaced with all new fluid. It steers very smooth, can't wait to try it out at 60 MPH.
