Default 2005 Mercury 115 EFI 4-Stroke Yamaha or Mitsubishi power head?

I recently purchased a boat with a Mercury 2005 115 EFI 4-stroke. I was told that it had a Yamaha powerhead and when I had the motor surveyed it checked out good with 220 hrs / compression 190 -195. I noticed on the computer read out that it says Mitsubishi after the serial number. I am also having a hard time finding a service manual for this year. The only ones I am finding is ending in year '04.

Can any give me any insight on this motor?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give me.

The powerhead itself is most likely made by Yamaha and the engine computer is made by Mitsubishi.

Scarab has nailed it. Yamaha makes the stuctural parts and Mitsubishi makes the ECU. The PTT assy is made by Showa (sp) and Mikuni makes some other electrical parts of the motor.

For a service manual you would need to contact Mercury Marine. I think motors actually made by Merc use Motorola ECU's.

When it comes to machines or electronics "made in USA" doesn't have much meaning anymore. The item might have been assembled in the USA but with parts from all over the place.

80% of every item you touch every day was made in another country, mostly China.
