Is that just hanging the motor and rigging it, or is it a complete re-rig? Hang and rig, as long as I've got the lift, $200. Complete re-rig, including yanking the old motor, de-rigging, re-rigging, hanging the new, $600.
That will depend on the amount of rigging needed and the hourly rate the shop charges, it varies. Most shops charge $100.00 an hour so figure the cost of the engine, rigging (gauges, wiring, ect) and the labor. It shouldn't take longer than 6-8 hours to de-rig an old engine and re-rig the new one.
Shop around, some dealers may throw in the installation charge just to make the deal happen.

That's my price! If I were anywhere near "None of your friggin business", I'd do it for you. What are you changing over from?
What are you working on? Did I see on your "other" Avitar you are now "layin about" in the keys these days? Got shut out last year on the tuna. I think this might be my year. Hope all is well.
dont forget the oil tank, set up and computer programing and the pdi.....usually 8-10 hours
If the dealer charges him 10 hours to rig a single 115 he's getting hosed a bit. When I bought my engines (twin 250 E-Tecs) I had the dealer disconnect and remove the old engines (twin 200 Ocean Pros) and hang the new engines, thats it.
I took the boat home and removed all the rigging from the old engines and rigged the new engines from the ground up, including fabricating a shelf for the oil tanks and mounting them. It took me 10 hours total between two days and I was taking my time.
Again...it all depends on how much work the boat itself needs. If he has an Evinrude already and all he needs is an engine swap, oil tank mounted and a wire harness run I see no reason why it should take longer than 6 hours.

i agree but we are assuming the hours based on a de rig and re rig with everything, gauges, controls, harness, tanks, key switch and sea trial.
Yeah guys, new motor, installed on a flats boat I'm finishing-one of CB Boatworks' 16' Redfish boats. Tom, last summer was a complete loss for me-put mybe 30 hrs on the boat, so I decided to have a winter and brought the B25 to Islamorada. Long story short, it's never coming back...

Complete new installation, no de-rig? I would go make a deal on an engine and get a total price. In this economy the dealer might throw in the installation in the cost of the engine. Let us know how it goes.
