Default 2006 Merc275

Looking at a boat with this engine. The engine is leftover. Anything wrong with these engs? What octane fuel do they burn. BTW they would give me a five yr warranty with it. what do you think?

I have a 2005 Verado 275 and love it, very quiet, powerful, and reliable. No problems whatsoever. Make sure all the updates have been completed. Check out Verado Club/Forum. All the info you could ask for regarding Verado's is on that site. Good luck.

Nothing wrong with it, you are buying a brand new engine with full warranty for thousands less than a 2010. Just make sure it has the float update and ground strap update done to it and you are good to go. Once rigged, check water psi, sometimes when they sit new in the box for a few years, the impellers geta set to them, it is hit or miss, most times they are fine, just something to look for. You should be at least 2.5 psi at idle.

It will top out at a consistent 48.5mph with a load, and cruise (ecomically) 28-30mph.
