Either Contender Parts Dept. or any plastic shop should be able to cut you a replacement. I could give you a name for my local one but since you don't list your location it probably won't do you much good.

I had my local electronics installer in AL order one for me that dropped right in and I paid less than $150. Any good installer and can either make one or order one. No big deal to accomplish. Made my 01 Contender console look brand new!

I would suggest using clear polycarbonate (Lexan), as opposed to acrylic (Plexiglas).

Same thing happend to ours. We glued it back and of course it broke again. I always felt like it was going to decapitate me anway and the bottom portion is in the way of the guages so I took the whole thing off and cut a piece of 1/4 starboard to fit. I got a few more of the little slidy things that hold it shut. I just take if off and put it in the console with the other electronics covers when we use the boat. Cost was less than $15.

I like that idea, Thanks! Do you have a picture of it and how do you cut starboard?

No picutres...

I measured the opening and the local hardware store cut it to size for me. I used a orbital sander to clean up the saw marks, round the edges a little and radius the corners to fit. Took all of 10 more minutes. We had a few extra of the black "clips" that hold the original cover shut so I put 2 on the top and 2 on the bottom. I still have a few holes to patch where the hinges attached.

I got the starboard from Kraft Hardware near Wrightsville Beach. No idea where you would get in in g-vegas though.

I never understood the value of these electronics "cubbies". They provide no theft protection (the lock is a joke), they inhibit your access, and limit your space to mount electronics. My Contender came with one and the first thing I did was remove it. I made a template of the entire helm and cut a piece of starboard right to the edge (and routed it). It allows me to fit two 12" MFD's two VHF's, Stereo and Autopilot at the helm. The electronics are all waterproof anyway and I have a canvas console cover that covers everything while at the dock. Most $$ sportfish boats have tons of electronics on the tower simply covered by canvas. Why do so many CC's have a love affaire with these electronics boxes??

I'm in complete agreement with you. I have had both and like taking the electronics out to the edge mounted on new creme or white plex. Then making a nice canvas cover for the total dash. And as you say, they really don't protect well at all. The canvas protects everything: instruments gauges, wheel and shifters - everything looks now for much longer.
