Cleaner/Protectant for rubrail

Anybody recommend a cleaner and protectant for black rubrail? I was thinking about Meguiars Premium Vinyl and Rubber Protectant but was wondering if this is something that once you start you have to keep doing often like armor all or one of those products. I may be better off just leaving it.

If it's a plain black rub rail, just clean it with acetone. Be aware that acetone will remove wax and paint, so mask it*off with tape if either condition is an issue.

Xylene (a slow evaporating solvent) will clean it better
