Default Looking to Buy a 21-22 WA what would you suggest..

My price range is 20k no more... I have had a keywest CC and looking to stay dry. I live in Mass and fish long island sound and maybe block island...

I have been looking at Hydra sports but they have Johnson motors?? FICHT..

What would you suggest I am looking for the biggest fishing area I can get.

Thanks

I did find a 21' Hydra sports 2005 with an 200HP E-tec... they will take 19k for it.. I think that's a great deal what do you guys think..

It's between Hydra sports or wellcraft?

It's hard to beat the Hydra-Sports 212 WA for fishing room in that size range. If they have a Johnson on them it's a carbed model, I think they only had a Johnson FICHT in 1998. A guy at work has a 212 with a 150HP and he's happy with the performance, with a 200 it should perform very well.

is it a leftover or private seller? but that sounds like a pretty good setup look at fuel capacity and gallons per hour running time if your looking to go far
also marine electrinics hold no value take that into concideration

im not a fan of the E tech line but for what your doing it sounds perfect im not going to spark an outboard brand war

I would love to get a 24' or a 26' but I am looking at gas consumption also..

I know that a 21' will waste whole lot less fuel than a 24'... I also found a 21' WA 2003 with a johnson 150 that was a pretty good deal?

I really have heard all good things about the etec compared to the johnsons?

1998 wellcraft 240 coastal. 225 johnson oceanrunner

Just found this ad on this website seems to be a nice boat?

http://www.nbssportfishing.com/vBfor...anrunner-9243/

What do you guys think??

Again the issue is fuel usage? Most of the times it will be only three adults and that's it.

The Johnson is a more reliable engine than the ETEC but it will use quite a bit more fuel. The 212 WA will be a lot more fuel efficient, with the 200 ETEC or the 150 Johnson, than that Wellcraft with the 225.

Hydra Sports makes pretty decent boat, but so does wellcraft. The HS with the etec sounds pretty good for 19k. Believe it or not, we only have 20k in this rig. '02 with twin F115's, 340 hrs. Had to look for a while and make a lot of offers, but deals are out there.

Got a 02 HS 23' WA with Yam OX66 200, gets about 2 mpg, the 250 etec would get us 2.5-2.8 pg and 8mph topend. The HS 21 with 200 etec should put you over 3mpg. HS site has specs on 21 wa with 150 etec.

hey dbranco,

I`m selling my 2003 21ft Prosport WA, here`s the link, let me know what you think, I will sell it for 20,000, it has a nice big fishing deck and big fish boxes. Comfortable for the family as well. Fresh water shower and sink below in cabin with portta-potti

Dude...catfever has your boat. The killer is that Honda hanging on the transom. 500 hrs and it's barely broken in. Try and find anyone saying anything bad about a newer Honda.....

Disclamer..just my .02

Too bad it is in Florida...... That quite a drive, nice looking boat the only thing I do not like is the bumpout for the outbaord? Why do bosts do that it take room for fishing.....

But real nice boat and great motor combo!!!

Like I said way too far and shipping would be a arm and a leg.

where are you located Dbranco? The bump out for the motor is not really a factor when it comes to fishing off the stern. I use the molded seats as a fishing platform when I`m inshore fishing, of course without the cushions on it. There`s still plenty of room.

Think of resale value down the road when you want to sell. A E-tech or modern 4 cycle eng. and quality brand name boat will hold it's value and be easier to sell, keep it in top condition you could probably sell it for what you pay for it. A carbed motor and lesser quality boat will devalue more and be harder to sell unless your willing to take a big loss on the price. The Hydrsport and the Prosport both look like good deals. The bump-out is what's called a splashwell, purpose is to prevent water from entering the boat in a following sea or backing down. You could probably find a used boat with out a splashwell if you looked long enough, a newer boat you would probably have to go with a full transom and motor bracket or the eruo-transom style boat.

In your price range, I am sure you can find any of the following with a DFI 2-stroke engine:

Hydra-Sports 212
Wellcraft 210
Aquasport 215
Pro-Line 22 WA

It's tough to shop up here in MA during the winter, I suggest broadening your search area to include at least the Chesapeake Bay area and maybe North Carolina. Have fun and ask lots of questions!

I checked on shipping and to ship this boat with trailer from Fl to MA would roughly cost $1250.00
Just a thought. If you wanted the boat I would include this in the price.
