Default Boat Ramps & Fishing Spots near Sunset Beach, NC

Planning a trip this year down to Sunset Beach, NC. I'm looking for advice on local boat ramps and near-shore fishing. I have a 24' Shamrock, which draws about 2'. Ideally I'd like to find a marina that has good ramps that will also allow me to store my boat & trailer on-site to eliminate the need to take it across the causeway and store it at our rental. In terms of fishing, I'll be taking a couple of young teenagers along (nephews) who have little time on a boat and are new to fishing. Plan to stay near shore and am looking for a wreck or reef that might provide some action. Any suggestions? Thanks

As I recall there is a place to put in just before you go over the bridge to Ocean Isle Beach. Don't know about storage. I would not want to tow over that one-lane bridge to Sunset Beach!

There is a public ramp on Ocean Isle under the bridge better to launch at high tide and not when there are alot of people putting in. As far as storage there is a marina between Sunset and Ocean Isle on the waterway I don't know if they will store for a short time though the name of it is Pelican Point. Close in fishing there are some good spots off Ocean Isle to slow troll for kings with live bait probably one of the best is a place called the 390's or 45390.00 59390.00 on your loran map can't remember the GPS coords. also there is a reef off little river inlet called the Sherman prob about 5 miles that can produce some good catches of kings. If you don't have live bait dead cigars can also produce some kings although this time of the year they prefer live bait. If ya want more info give me a shout in the Carolina Groups room. I've been fishing here for 20 odds years so I know the area. If you are out try raising me on 68.

Check out Dubbs' post on the Carolinas board. If you're there for a week and don't want to fight the ramps everyday, you might consider a transient slip somewhere like Coquina Harbor. There are 3 marinas in the Harbor, and nothing beats the convenience of having your boat in the water. Coquina Harbor Marina, Lighthouse Keeper's Marina and Myrtle Beach Yacht Club.
About a mile north of the ramps at the Highway 17 highrise bridge and about 3 or 4 from the inlet. Look for the lighthouse on the ICW, or behind the Holiday Inn Express in Little River on #17.
