Default outboard finishing advice

Hi, I have been cleaning up an 2005 blue evinrude etec 40 outboard motor for use on a boat were putting togethere. There was some slight corrosion on the lower gearcase which i decided to sand down, and refinish with zinc chromate primer and then original manufacturer paint.

I read that it was important to clean the surface prior to repainting, and it suggested using acetone. Unfortunately when I sprayed acetone some of it oversprayed onto the plastic of the outboard and discolored it white from the original blue color. I tried wiping off the acetone but it appears to have permanently discolored it white.

Does anyone have advice to repair the plastic on this back to original color, I was considering wet sanding the plastic. Is it possible to attain a similair gloss finish? Would the oem paint from evinrude work on the plastic shell?

Any advice would be appreciated.
