Default Famous Lines from the BEST Brokers

Being an equal opportunity poster I am starting two posts . . . this one is about BEST brokers . . . the other thread about the WORST brokers and you can see that one by clicking here > > > http://www.thehulltruth.com/boating-...t-brokers.html

Here are the GEMS I ran across during my very long search for a boat

#1: This is an estate sale and the wife is selling memories and not a boat . . . the boat is seriously over priced and she will not drop her price by more than a few thousand

#2: Don't drive down to look at that boat . . . the owner had 'beaten the boat to death' (saw it two months later when the broker was showing me a different boat

#3 The engines in the boat will need an overhaul . . . the engine hour meter showed 1,300 hours, but the actual was 11,300 hours as the meter stopped at 9,999.9 hours and then went back to 0 hours

I don't get this post. Are these people trying to sell a boat? And these are the best?

Default I honestly cant distinquish between best and worse

I worked hard to sell that boat, if only the owner would put a little more in this sale is mine I worked hard to get this boat listed. Its not my fault no one made him an offer in 18 months. If you try to sell this boat without giving me a commission Ill sue.Its only been 2 years and I want the guys name now that gave you a deposit If your serious about this boat go look at it and tell me what you think. when you call back I might be out of town but leave a message. Ill get back. I cant do this any more. I am trying to be nice and mellow today and this is raising my blood pressure.

1)What boat are you referring to?
2) Is it museum quality?

Darn, someone beat me to "Museum Quality".

MQ = This boat is vastly overpriced and will underperform for whatever purpose you want to put it to, but it does come with some notoriety or has had an interesting owner in the past.

One other:

Fully Updated Electronics = The electronics were replaced with new but formerly state of the art components at some point more than 5 years ago, likely installed by the owners unemployed nephew.

Auguste--if you are going to be true to your "equal opportunity poster" claim, you need to start two more threads Best lines to brokers from customers, and worst--don't you agree?

I had a broker tell me:

"The boat needs some cosmetic work, the only thing the old man didn't hit was a pedestrian!"

Laughed my butt off on that one!

I'm guessing at this, but as a consumer I don't suspect he would have that angle.

He's been around the block--equal opportunity means equal opportunity; both sides of the equation should get a whack at this.

Well, in keeping with August's intent (not my initial interpretation), to do that you would need to list the GOOD things that buyers did.

Like tell you when a seller is trying to sell out from under your agreement (resulting in no or a much smaller commission check to you), or point out that something was newer or a better option than what was listed, or something that actually increased the value of the boat you didn't know about.

Fair is fair.......

"See that all around there? That's an old water line.. and we're on the INside of the boat!"
"You ain't plannin' on runnin' any inlets or goin' out in much are ya?... oh, well, you ain't in this boat!"
"They're sayin' this is a new boat right? then why do the bolts on that cylinder head have the paint worn off them?"

I think if you re-read my post, that is precisely what I said---or did you not know he has two threads already going on the same subject--both good and bad re brokers; I am suggesting to be fair that he needs two more threads from the broker's point of view, both good and bad---and fair is fair again makes my point--I agree

Just wondering . . . did he also want a deposit with that offer?

Charlie this boat is not for you!
I had a local boat broker tell me that on a Bertram that had been repowered with Mans. He knew the engines had been run low on oil.
