Default What outboard would you buy.....

Ok, lets take a poll and see what outboard is most popular.

For those who need more specifics: 150-200hp, saltwater use, single engine install, 18-22' boat, 4,000 lbs loaded max(People, gear, etc)

(No Real boat involved- hypothetical only!!!)

Only listing the manufacturer, not specific motors.

Honda, Suzuki, Mercury, Evinrude (E-tec), Yamaha

All of the manufacturers are good these days. Go with whatever has the best warranty and service in your area. You may also want to find a 150 that has the most azz behind it.

I recommend putting atleast 200 hp on a 22'. a 250 would be nice.

I'll list my choice here since it wasn't on the list: 1975 Chrysler 150 hp. An obvious choice for most, not sure why it was not on the list.

I am buying from who I have gotten great service from for the last 25 years, no matter what brand they sell... In my case its Yamaha.. If they switch, I would have zero reservations on buying whatever they are going to service for me.
Funny, but the children of the two NJ Yamaha guys I use now run those businesses, I've known them since they were in grammar school, even before. Wouldn't think of a different place to bring my boat.

We are happy with our Suzuki DF175 on our Proline Sport 21, it moves the boat nicely and reaches 43 MPH while loaded and has seen a top speed of 46 MPH both on GPS when the load was lighter and the tide and wind were right.

The only service on the Suzuki so far has been routine oil changes and lower unit oil change.

I highly recommend the Suzuki engines, runs very strong, turns a 16 inch diameter propeller. We currently have a Suzuki Stainless Steel 16X18.5X3 and turn between 5900 RPM and 6000 RPM.

Verado 200 4cyl. or Verado 250 6cyl.

I'd rather be over powered than not being able to get on plane tubing with the kids w/ 4 adults on the boat.
