Conditions this morning were 80degrees and 5-10mph light and variable from the NE.....a gorgeous day. Boat was the 40ft SH they had at the boat show which was being delivered today. John and Ralph were happy to take me out for a boat ride today.....Trip Yamaha 350's with secret props and around 200-250 gallons of fuel, full Eisenglass, large console and top, 2nd station, outriggers, tons of electronics including A/C, Xbox360, TV...cruised at around 45 mph at 35 gph. Easily hit 68mph and 69.9mph downwind.
Pretty quick for a 40ft boat. Pics and video to follow when i get home.
comparable boats are the YF 36 which does 72 with same power according to this forum.
"Comparable" to a 36 YF? I'd say a 39 Venture, the 39 SeaVee or 41 Bahamas would be a better comparison. When YF comes out with its 38/39 series in a year from now then were talking.
I think by comparable he means speed, none of those boats can hit anywhere near 69-70 with same power. 70 MPH is pretty impressive for a 40' boat, especially for a non-stepped hull.

i meant in speed......but the SH40 is a bit bigger and not a stepped hull, so i thought it was impressive to hit YF36 numbers with 4 more feet.
The props are secret cuz that is what they said......they are not Yamaha props is all i know. Not labbed or balanced or anything like that.
Pardom me if it is ignorance but what is the purpose of having the Garmin 4212 inside the console? Anchor watch? Hooked to video of the outside of the boat?

In weight, the SH40 weights less than a 32YF....per listed dry weights..
guess that's where it gets it's speed..
hell a 29YF weights more than the SH35
Very interesting, from what I understand the YF has a cored hull and is not solid glass bottom, like a few other manufactures. But the Sea Hunter is so big for a CC I wonder, once you are on plane and on top the slop how much does it matter? But the SH does look to have some nice fit and finish.

that is one nasty boat, im just wondering though cause im new to the board... Would some of y'all argue over whether a lambo is better than a ferrari, like which one of these 300K boats is better than other. Dont get me wrong i love reading it, but in my book there both gonna get you laid
I can tell you that the quad verado SH never saw 70. If this one hit 69.9 in 80 degree weather then it will break the 70 mark when the weather cools down for sure. They did have a 40 that had twin Yamy 350's that broke 60 so I can believe it. I'm a little skeptical on the amount of fuel in the boat but even if it was dead empty it's still pretty impressive. I hear they're coming out with a 37/38. That should be interesting. If they ever got with the program and stepped their hulls......Why fight it, even Contender gave in to the demand.
