Default Adding engine bracket to 1999, 215 Kencraft Challenger

I wish to add an engine bracket to a 1999 Kencraft Challenger. Does this make sense? Will it improve handling and efficiency? Does the transom need to be modified? Has anyone made this modification to their 215 and was it worth it? I do not have trim tabs now, will I need them after the conversion?
