Default New Yamaha Outboard information

We just posted up the new Yamaha SHO models and Yamaha Offshore model "Hot Sheets" First peak!

http://www.simyamaha.com/category_s/1880.htm

They are about a 3mb pdf download each. Firefox may give you an issue, so if you have IE, use that. Takes a few seconds for them to show up.

Enjoy!

Andy

I love Yamaha but I remember what happened the last time they had a "new" 300 h.p. out... I wish them all the luck with this. It is exactly what I need on my next boat but I will wait until some of you have several hundred hours on these until I step up....

Great report SIM /Andy..Sounds like your hurty tit healed quickly.(maybe you iced it down from ice in L Mich.)
keep up the fantastic replies.

do you think the new type props /less shift clunk will work on earlier systems or is it prop shaft, props, etc lower unit different.
Just a wild ass guess will do.

The new prop and dampening mechanism will work on both new and old style motors.

Pretty cool. The dual water intakes. That new to this model? I am not schooled in 300+ HP engines and thats a new feature to me. great redundancy feature.

How did they shave an additional 50lbs off of the VMAX SHO versus the new already light Offshore series?

If they are as good as the F250s and F350s, they will be bad azz!!!

Good move for Yamaha.

They started putting the lower unit water pickups on the bullets of the F250s a couple of years ago.

Aluminum outboard engines without sleeves is nothing new.1946
Ask US Chrome and maybe some of the old Mercury Marine people, both in
Fon du Lac.

Iron Fist ,Karl Keikhaefer is probably rolling over in his grave.
I think there were a few 2S V6 made using that process.
Saves weight and probably better heat transfer.

Now Yamaha plasma coating of cylinder walls in new 4.2L V6 probably is probably better and maybe cheaper.

Holy Guacamole...I just shart myself! Unfortunately my wallet is in the Wife's purse. But after a year's worth of other people's remarks and criticisms, and maybe after hopefully only an update or two on the F300 -- I'll be ready! Gotta get another year outta my 250HPI's ---gonna need some serious luck!

I did ask for the last thread to be removed. No one told me too. Originally I was told that I could post the info................but I didn't go up high enough in the Yamaha food chain. Either way......all is good and my titty's are perky as ever! I know......too much info.

The new clunkless shifting is due to a new all Yamaha prop hub system. Currently its only offered on a new SW2 prop design. I was told by the Yamaha prop guys that they plan to offer it in the other models too. I was on a Edgewater 31 with the new twin 300's (55-56 mph wot) and it shifted VERY smooth. You can hear it if you go back by the engines, but it sounds like one would think it should. No changes are needed to any of the lower units, but you will need this new hub system's prop hardware. You will need a new style prop in order to use it.

Looks great. For those who don't feel like reading the whole thing:

Looks like Yamaha has the lightest 300 hp 4 stroke v6 outboard yet (in fact it's a little lighter than everyone's 4 stroke 250s)

Only thing that wasn't entirely clear - mounting distance for a pair - will it fit on 2 stroke centers or is the suzuki still the only one that will do that?

Thanks andy. This is fortuitous timing for me. What's the timing? Any idea of cost?

What is the difference in speed between the 250, 300, and 350? Mercury has always been a little faster than Yamaha, but how does this one compare to the 300 verado as far as speed goes?
