In the process of adding a new control box (single lever/dual action) to my Fountain 25. Engine is a 1999 Mercury 250 EFI. My question is: My cables curently use a 10-32 threaded end that has black plastic ends on it that attach to the old control box. The new box uses Gen II ends. Is there an adapter for this type of connection or do I need to run new cables? Cables are in good shape so I would prefer to not replace them unless that is my only resort. Thanks
I do have the red jacket 33c cables. It seems that all kinds of ends are available, just dont know which ones at this point. LOL Maybe just gonna run new cables PITA Anyone got any ideas?
Gonna probably go with a Gaffrig type control instead so I dont' have to switch out the cables. Let me know if anyone is interested in a new Mercury MCC 4501 Console Control, I will let it go for a fair price. Thanks Shawn
Gen II controls require Gen II cables. Teleflex makes a Gen II compatible cable but no adapter kit as far as I know. In fact, Gen II cables are even being phased out now in favor of Mercury Premium version cables. No idea if Teleflex or anybody else has an equivalent cable yet as this is very new.
