Default Chartplotter Speed Pics...Lets see 'em!

It seems that some of here on THT are "photo challenged"

For those of us that are not...I thought I'd start a separate thread for GPS speed pics.

I'll start..I know I am small potatoes here compared to most but I want to see those with the faster rigs post up.

Please include loading, sea state, ambient conditions, boat and motor year / type, and anything else that is pertinent..

2007 Donzi 29 ZFC T-250 Vrats
Full fuel (180 gal)
4 on board
1 foot chop

Why don't you guys in Fountains, Donzis, Yellowfins and the like have you speed calculated in knots like the rest of the boating world? Is it just the fact that you like seeing a higher number so you leave your electronics set to MPH instead of KNOTS? I must be missing something. Maybe it is just a Florida or Gulf thing but here in the Northeast we measure our SOG in Knots when on the water and MPH when we are in our cars!

One of my pet peeves, as well- but it's not just the go-fast's that do it. MPH when referring to a boat makes no more sense than referring to your car's speed in knots...

But some guys like to do it anyway. 70 miles offshore at 30 mph sounds much more impressive than 60 nm at 26 knots

You've worked on a lot of U-17's ?

I thought they were kinda rare. What speeds were you seeing out of them?

You sure you didn't have your GPS on in your truck, on your way to the boat ramp?

Nice stereotype.

You're right none of us Fountain, Donzi, Yellowfin guys know anything about knots. Especially me..heck, this is what I look at all day.

Really though, the reason for me is so my passengers can look at the speed and not ask me how fast we are going.

hehe, thats the console of your yellowfin? awesome! . on a dinner boat once, i let a guy in the bridge with his gf. he walked right up to the radar and said in a very impressive manner, 'oh whats this, your fish finder?' trying to hold back the laughter my mate politely said, 'no and your tour is over now'

If one isn't using a chart to navigate, why shouldn't they use MPH's? The fact that lots of slow boaters use knots is irrelevant to me.
