I'm not going to be able to impress anybody with speed, but take a look at the mileage...
In the first photo, 9/14/07, the vessels being launched after a remodel, repower, and new electronics. The boat is one of mine ( I designed and built it) it's 40 feet long, powered by a 440 hp Yammar diesel and an Arnasen drive, about 17,000 pounds dry.
In the second photo, 4/11/08, seven months later, the boat is bucking into an 8 to 10 foot mixed sea ,averaging about 15 kn ( just over 13 when the photo was taken) but it's got 8000 nautical miles on it ( 20 nautical miles south of this photo we ran into a Southeast gale and sea conditions were considerably worse), around 250 gallons of fuel, 3000 pounds of freight, and three people on board.
In the third photo, 5/19/09 ,13 months later, calm seas, 26 kn, 6469 nautical miles ( it only logs miles to 9999 and then starts over).
The fourth photo, 6/20/09, a slow month, only an additional 457 miles, calm seas, a couple thousand pounds of freight, somewhat over 250 gallons of fuel.
The fifth photo shows the boat running light, 27 kn, 100 gallons of fuel, nine people, and about 500 pounds of mountain rescue equipment.
So in the first 20 Months after a re-power it logged 16,469 nautical miles, working part-time ( mostly winter mail runs) and some playing ( the owner lets me play with it and in exchange, I make a few of his mail runs).

Thank you
1.3 - 1.5 ( nautical) miles per gallon in normal planning operations, .5 -.75 when pushing into a big sea. Hours? I've lost track , think the first engine logged between 4000 and 5000 hours, the second and third both logged between 3500 and 4,000, and the one that's in it, recently ingested an exhaust valve! at about 14 or 1500 hrs. A fifth engine is on order ...

Does it have a suface drive? Looks like it in the pic
with 50 gallons, full eisenglass and open array radar......this was in 90 degree weather(as u can see)....could probably hit 62 in perfect conditions. Normal cruise in the ocean is around 36-42mph. For u guys who like knots and cant add or subtract 10% difference, it tops out at about 55 knots.
Please include loading, sea state, ambient conditions, boat and motor year / type, and anything else that is pertinent..
