Default f250b diy oil change

Alright, looks like we've pulled the trigger on a new rig that comes with the new Yammy f250b. We're looking to save a little money for fuel and fishing by doing some of the maintenance ourselves. We have changed the oil on our f150 before, is the f250 drastically different or more difficult? Any shortcuts/things to watch out for?

Other than eyeballing most of the systems, isn't the oil/lower unit oil change the only must do's in the initial 10 hour service?

Thanks

Yes basically the same. Pretty easy to change oil & filter, lower unit and lube. If you are not doing it put a ziploc bag over the oil filter as you remove it to keep excess oil dripping into the engine pan.

Cracker, you are da' MAN! I'm assuming that the 250 and 200/225 are basically the same in engine layout. Great super helpful post!

Thanks again

One thing to pay attention too on the F250 is the oil pressure sending unit. It is adjacent to the oil filter. If you use a strap type wrench, you run the risk of taking that sender OUT. Meaning......breaking it off.

Use a filter wrench like this one. http://www.simyamaha.com/Wrench_p/a254.htm

Hey Andy, thanks as well. When the boat gets here we will be buying one of those bad boys from you. Would kind of defeat the purpose of trying to save a little money by changing our own oil if we trashed the engine on the first attempt, huh?

I appreciate the help
