Don't anyone say anything bad about Brett's all amazing Yellowfins. They are nice boats but Brett is way out of line talking to the Op this way. I understand Yellowfin owners loving there boats, but don't act like Wylie is God. Instead of helping the guy you blast him and then tell him you will buy it. Not all YF owners are this way.

Well, ever since I bought the company......... You know that what you are saying is not true. I asked multiple times to have him call or give me a number, provide me with which boat it was and to try and allay his concerns until he could speak with Wylie or Richard next week. After 3 pages of asking he finally called Anthem. I had been trying to help him from the get go. As for Wylie, you obviously dont know him very well. I dont get treated any better then the next guy at the factory. Wylie is a quiet, very private guy that is usually pretty direct. He can be accused of a few things but being dishonest or lacking integrity is not in his make up. I will let him answer any questions about this particular boat but keep in mind that the OP bought this boat 3rd hand. It was originally sold to Terry Adkins who sold it to Mike who sold it to Baronman. To expect W to remember off the top of his head this particular unit is asking a lot. Keep in mind this boat was pulled to some of the SKA/Bluewater Tourneys in 2008 then sold to Mike this past spring. It is a great boat that will provide years of excellent service to Baronman. If he is entirely uncomfortable with the boat then he can call Terry and he may take it on trade towards his 36, or he can let me list it and I can get him all of his cash back. Then he can order an aluminum tank 34 identical to this boat and have it by March.

If I were u I would stop worring about your tanks and go fishing. I have fiberglass tanks in my 08 hull (that was completed in september of 07) and have ran ethanol since day one. The only problems I have had is the lids of the tanks peel of some sort of layer, its not fiberglass. Once it peels of and you clean out your tanks you are fine. Some peel worse than others and some dont peel at all. I opened the inspection lid my self a few months ago and the fuel inside was crystal clear. The actual fiberlgas walls of the tanks are holding up just fine. The ethanol does not disolve the stuff that peels of the lids it just makes it delaminate and it then settles down at the bottom of the fuel tank and can easily be sucked out. The screens and extra holes at the bottom of the pick up lines really eliminate any problems running. I would just get the screens installed if I were you and just enjoy your boat.
I think the OP has the right to be mad.I also dont believe that the OP was looking to get survey's on A practically new boat with practically new engine warranty's and beings that customers have and are always on sites like this and praising the Yellowfin name, what worry would he have not to believe them? The guy already had A 31 and bought A 34 he seems to be A loyal customer so whats the problem? I really feel for the guy! and if Yellowfin personally told me that all 09's had alum tanks I would believe them! Now if they said that all boats manuf before aug08 had fiber tanks and all boats manu in 09 def have alum tanks then I would have done A little more research into the matter. So I guess we could chalk this one up as failure to communicate on Yellowfins behalf. Sad but very true.
The fact of the the matter is that he bought a used boat. If the fuel tank issue was that important he would have gotten in the bilge with a flash light and looked in the fuel line feed hold and seen that it was a glass tank. At the end of the day the OP has to take a great deal of responsibility for being in this position (which is not a bad position). When I buy $200k boats or cars that are not new I get a survey or a PPI. WHen I buy factory new I get an order form that has my specs and if there is a deviation then I will take it up with the factory. And let me reiterate:
Baronman. You got a fantastic boat that rides well, hauls the mail and catches fish. This boat happened to win the first annual Yellowfin Owners Tourney overall this past June. Great boat.

Good morning brett,i talked to terry friday morning to ask him some questions about this boat he confirmed the boat had glass tanks since richard at YF on wednesday on the phone when i give him the hull ID could not tell me what kind of tanks and to confirm how much fuel capacity it holds,And back to terry i asked if he wanted the 34 on trade for the 36 he said no way,And if you will call terry he will tell you that,I HAVE NO REASON TO LIE. And you still have not posted your phone number ,Why are you makeing such a big deal of this,I love the boat,i would not buy any thing else.I was just suprised to find out about the glass tanks on a 2009 ID BOAT,THANKS
fuel cap is 450 150 each tank your build sheet that I think Mike gave you has this info on it
you also need to know how to use you petcocks
The only sheet i have that looks like the build sheet only has month built, hull ID,Hull material, has Wylie signature,I will phot copy and post,So i may not have been given the whole sheet, thanks
I guess some of us will just take people at their word and not inspect evrything or ask further questions
if I called YF or any other mfg for that matter and was told all 09's have a certain something wether its its alumunum tanks or something else I would take them at their word
if not all 09's have the tanks he should of been told 09's manufactuered afer a certain date have the aluminium tanks
I love the Y'f's and are right now #1 on my list to be my next boat probably a slightly used one , I'll know better now and be more carefull
Trying to find out how many yellowfin owners that are haveing problems with the fiberglass fuel tanks and what year models.
Everytime I read through one of these long drawn out threads, it always amazes me how off topic and crazy it makes the owners of that specific brand of boat... Yellowfins always seeming to draw the most THT attention (not trying to insult Yelowfin owners, but you guys are a little nuts about your brand... not necessarily a bad thing).
This guy has not demanded his tanks be replaced or asked the boat be bought back, he simply asked if anyone was having any problems and what years... most likely because he wants to see if he has a known year/boat that might need attention... he has not even asked someone else pay for that attention. Maybe I am giving the guy too much credit and he really is trying to insight the Nuts to eventually have Wylie come on here and offer 1 sentence to fix the situation, but seeing the guy keeps saying how much he loves Yellowfins and this is his second boat, how about giving him the benefit of the doubt that he just came on THT to get some more info. Clearly he is a little ticked about being given inaccurate information regarding model years and tanks (or miscommunication on both parts), but not so sure it requires the defensive team of Yellowfin, Yellwofin and Yellowfin, LLP to attack him... let's not forget, he is a Yellowfin Nut himself.
Either way, I am now a part of this craziness and have lost approx. 1 hr of my time. Next time, let's just all fork up 1 hr of our time in money and the guy can just go use it to buy new tanks.
EDIT:
This post actually finally gave a relevant answer to the OP (no idea if it is good advice, but its advice)...

Thanks for the post,It looks like what i thought as a simple question turns out to be a nightmare,You are correct,I am not looking for a hand out just answers.By the way that 39 is a good looking boat.
BTT This thread could very well beat the Luhrs thread as the longest thread.
Baronman, I don't know what it is but people are very loyal to Yellowfin. They sometimes act as if Yellowfin was their mother or God. They can't stand it when somebody says anything negative about them. I know they make great boats (overrated sometimes), but so do a lot of other builders and they don't seem to get such a following. I wonder what is their secret. I know I would be upset if i bought a fairly new boat and had the slightest worry that my fuel tanks could go bad and I had to open up the floor and spend an additional $4,500, especially after you did the right thing by contacting the factory. Hope that all goes well, it sucks when you have to take a boat apart period imagine a 2009.

Yellowfin should have never built boats with glass tanks and this would not be an issue. I wonder how many of you YF guys would let Wylie sleep with your wife? You sure seem to love him that much.
