The only way for shure to know what tanks are in a Yellowfin is to give the hull # to Richard and he"ll tell you! You cant go by them saying that 09's have aluminum tanks DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY BOATS THEY PUT OUT they can't keep everything in there head
and for the price you got the boat................ DON"T WORRY BE HAPPY!!!!!!!!
AND YES IT"S A 2009 and I personally put all 170+ hrs on it

And for the price he paid he could have aluminum tanks installed and still be way ahead of the game!!! You stole that boat!
Guys, just talked to the OP on the phone, seems like a nice enough guy just looking for some answers...loves the boat and super impressed with YF quality, but I understand his interpretation of what happened. Hoping to get his some clarification if not something more.
I wrote "some" to disclude anglers like you from the generalization. If it don't apply, let it fly. The marlin kill shot was bad enough but once I seen meii's lifeless pup on the deck I just couldn't hold back. I am all about taking fish but lets have some kind of morals when it comes to killing these type of fish. Its careless and selfish!
YF offered a VERY reasonable deal on alum tank replacement. Why dont you schedule an appt and take them up on it?
I would not worry about them "ripping up your deck". Personally, I wouldnt want anybody but YF taking apart my boat to install the alum tanks. The re-constructed boat would probably be good as new when the work was complete.
The whole point is that he doesnt need to do anything. If you are concerned about ethanol related issues then run ethanol free fuel. You can get it at most marinas and even some local gas stations. If you have to run ethanol then just wait and see if you have issues. I personally dont think that you will but at the price you paid for the boat you could have the tanks installed and still be in the black on the boat. You got a proven kick ass 34 and you need to stop stressing and enjoy it.
By the way, welcome over at YFO and you can call anytime you have questions or concerns. We all take care of each other.

Trying to find out how many yellowfin owners that are haveing problems with the fiberglass fuel tanks and what year models.
Are you having any issues with the tanks?
We have a 2007 36 with glass tanks.
Would I rather have Aluminium...sure...but don't kid yourself those tanks are not perfect and have there own problems....there is a reason YF went away from Aluminium in the first place. The fact is, Ethanol sucks not matter what you put it in. We plan to continue enjoying our YF and will deal with any issues when/if the arise. If it ever comes to it we will have YF install new tanks, it is not that big of a deal.
We have always found YF to be straight shooters and to the point. Regardless if YF mislead you or not, that is how you feel and hopefully that can be resolved and restore your faith in YF. After Dealing with the YF crew on our boat, I strongly doubt they intentionaly mislead you.
I can remember when the first pics of Crunch Time were posted....beautiful boat and setup! I didn't klnow she was for sale.
