I purchased a new engine from them a few years back and know others who have purchased both engines and "standard configuration" boats from them. Everyone I know will buy from them again and said they could not find a better price anywhere. The engine dealers in my area said Ed's price is under their cost.
Like the others said, if you care OK with their "packages", you will be fine. If you are buying a crate motor and installing it locally, you get a factory warranty and any authorized repair shop should support you. Boats should also get factory support.

Three people on this forum, myself included, were able to get better prices (and better trailer, motor, etc.) from Kevin (owner) @ Towne Marine. Ed's has been giving some pretty competitive quotes lately, so talk to both of them and see where you get. Just make VERY sure you understand EXACTLY what you are getting from Ed's (trailer brakes on how many axles, engine, "extra costs", etc.) -- My experience with Towne is that he doesn't play those games.
In fact, when I picked up my boat (at Towne) there was suppose to be only one battery. He had two installed. Along with a few other nice things.
I *HIGHLY* recommend Kevin.
Good Luck,
Pete
P.S. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions or anything.
You had to ask a lot of specific questions such as:
How many axles have brakes on the trailer (I would just assume both do, but no, the ones on Ed's only one axle had brakes).
Is it a LH or RH rotation motor?
What is the build date of the motor?
Tie down for the trailer, oil, prep fees, etc. are quoted AFTER the price you're given.
I know there were a few more "things" that popped up, but those come to mind right off the top.
I think Ed's (from what I've seen recently) MAY have started playing things more even-handed. I don't know for sure, since I'm not shopping for a boat. I can only tell of my personal experience.
Even with all that, at the end of the day, Kevin still had a better price.

New Jersey Outboards is a great dealership for all your boating needs. We will beat anyone's Seahunt price and our service is top notch with the lowest labor rates in the state. Check us out we have a brand new webpage with a Seahunt blog that you can interact with.
Here is my experience. Spring of 2008 we were ready to buy, had it narrowed down to either the Sea Hunt Triton 220, or the Ultra 232. I checked every Sea Hunt dealer within probably 300 miles, along with Chatlee's which was even further.
Ed's had Towne Marine slightly (and i mean real slightly) beat on the price, as long as you took the boat they already had setup with whatever options it came with. Well, i decided i wanted to choose which options i wanted, which was pretty much all of them except fresh water washdown. Once i started adding in the options i wanted Ed's price drastically increased, to the point where Towne had them beat by a decent margin.
Both dealers were roughly the same distance from me (4 hrs) so that was a non factor. I have talked to Bobbi at Ed's a couple times, and she has been most helpful and pleasant each time. However, there was another gentleman i spoke to right before i bought, and he seemed somewhat annoyed and short with me. Don't recall his name since it's been 2 years, maybe he was just busy, not a big deal but it did somewhat turn me off since this was a big purchase for me.
I ended up buying from Towne Marine because they ended up giving me a better price after the added options, and they seemed to be upfront about everything and no BS. Since the purchase they have been great. I had a roller come off my trailer and scratched the gelcoat on the bottom of the hull, they footed the bill and repaired it free of charge. Their service dept is great, in fact, every time me and my dad go up there we end up BSing with the service guy, really cool bunch of guys up there.
As far as service goes, i get all my service done at a local dealer that doesn't even sell Sea Hunt boats, and they are glad to do my service work. In addition to that all the work is done fast, within days. Considering the current economy and the hit the boating industry has taken, any dealer that refuses service or gives subpar service because you didn't buy a boat from them won't stay in business much longer. Service is the only thing that is keeping alot of these dealers afloat right now.
With that said, i would have no problem buying from Ed's, they do have fantastic prices. Like others have said, plan on getting service done elsewhere. I recently called Ed's and Towne again to get a quote on the Sea Hunt Victory 245 W/A, and Ed's had a phenominal price on it with the options i wanted. Towne's price was just slightly more, but i'm sure they could just about match it. My personal dealings with Towne has been exceptional to the point that buying my boat was the easiest and least stressful purchase i've made, far more so that any car purchase i've made.
I've tried to be as unbiased as possible with this post, so i hope it helps.
What rules? The vendor rules may still be there, but they certainly are not enforced. At least not like they used to be.

I see another dealer on here giving quotes and talking about pricing. I didn't go that far why is he not going against the rules its blatant advertising. Just wanted to tell about our new website, what's wrong with that. There's a seahunt blog. By the way Bruce I noticed you giving links to dealers actually one dealer. Do you work for them??
Location: Los Angeles, FL.or Georgia, depends. In Fl now.

I bought my 212 somewhere else and get it serviced first class locally. I hear that stuff of we service only what we sell and I find that pretty stupid. I would never buy from a dealer that says that.
