I fish mostly on Lake Anna, but with this purchase we (myself and the admiral) plan on expanding our travels to the Bay and Potomac. We wanted something that would work inland and inshore. We looked at the ZX2250 as well, but it seemed a bit too large for our needs. Its hard to tell from pictures, but when you get the 22bay and the 2250 side by side there is a big difference.
So it's NOT a tunnel hull?

How many 22' bay boats does Skeeter make?

22v is deeper than the 22 bay. 22v and 2250 take the 25"

Left my Bay Boat demo with our Lauderdale dealer yesterday, but I promise you, I'll be on the river my brand or a different brand, but I'll be on the river.
Weather is perfect right now also.
Was planning and looking forward to the weather bouey this weekend, but that's still up in the air.
It's a long trip, but awesome to be that far offshore.
If you've never been, you need to give it a try but a little larger boat and fuel capacity though.
The boat we'll be in has 540 gallons in her belly.
Cant afford it, but, what the hell.

I will be down this Thursday to visit the mouse and my family. What inlet do you go out of? Good luck to you at the buoy and on the river.

Not official performance numbers...meaning my own... Still on break-in, but at least I can run on a plane now. She has lots of pep, but I am concerned about the motor setup. Motor is mounted high on the jplate and it ventilates. Checked with the dealer and skeeter about it and they said it is setup for extreme shallow water running, but they would lower the motor if I wanted them too. I may keep it at that setup, but I dont really need the "extreme" shallow water capability where I am now. I may lower it for the better handling.

The hyd. jackplate is for getting the engine up for "extreme shallow water running"

The engine is mounted too low.

I thought that engine set up looked odd in your first picture. Hence my comment about a tunnel hull.

The engine's anti-ventilation plate should be level with the keel when the jackplate is ALL the way down

That's the problem
It's 25 miles to Sebastian, then another 120 miles to the bouey.
Gotta get a bank loan to pay for the fuel!
We figure between the three of us we have enough money to get to the bouey, having enough money for fuel to get back could present a whole new isue.
Your right, a Jon boat on the river makes a whole lot more sence.

Congratulations on a fine purchase! Skeeter is a great boat. I have a 2010 ZX22V on order right now. It should be here in a few more weeks. Enjoy!

Engine is mounted high, so even with the jackplate all the way down the keel lines up just above the nose cone with about 18" of setback (guestimation...stepped hull plus 6" jackplate". Dont have any waterpressure or cooling issues since motor has the low water intakes, but it is loud and ventilates in the slightest turn. I agree with you in that I think the motor should be lower so you can adjust up for shallow water running and down for optimum performance. The factory said they would pay for me to get it remounted to my preference. I just have to make the decision..

I really liked the 22V. That is boat I demo'ed, but they did not have one in stock and I could not pass up the deal on the 22Bay. The 2250 was just too big..

IMO, tho anti-ventilation plate should be no more than about an inch higher than the keel with the J.P. all the way down
