I don't care how good the oil is,
There is no way, no hell and no how I would EVER go 25,000 miles between oil changes.

I use their premeum synthetic in my vehicles and change it at every 15k miles with a filter change in between at 7500k. I have a 1996 truck that has 222k miles on it and have never had an issue, Although I didnt start using the Amsoil in it until it had around 100k miles on it.

I only use synthetic in ALL my engines from tractor to snowblower to cars and my boat. It costs more BUT in my mind it's worth every penny. Some of my autos REQUIRE Mobil 1 so that says something at least to me about the benefits.

Two things: Mine is correct...can't switch back and forth. Once synthetic need to stay synthetic and no way should you go beyond normal maintainence intervals...stay with manufacture specs (see 150 hr oil change above...not a good idea to exceed MINIMUM change requirement by 50%). I still change my cars at 3k to 5k miles or at least once annually on the vehicles I put on less miles than the 5K.

Cheap insurance in my mind given the costs of the engines that propel us on land and sea.

My powerstroke owners manual says to change the oil (not synthetic) every 10k miles, my wife's 08 caddy also says every 10k miles (non-synthetic). Today's oil aint like the oil from the 40's and 50's homeboy.

I can't believe I am still following this thread, especially on a Saturday.

Did none of your dad's teach you how to work on cars/boats/engines when you were a kid or did they just give you the number to the local dealership if you had a problem?

Try this because I have, call Penzoil, etc and actually ask them about switching back and forth. They told me it does not matter. Holds true for marine applications as well.

Default Amsoil is not certified for 2009 according to the NMMA

I am going to use it in my older 225, but I checked the NMMA web site and did not see Amsoil listed for 09, so I e-mailed the folks...below is their response. I don't know how this will play with warranty. FYI ya'll.

Amsoil has not registered their oils for 2009 and therefore have no NMMA certified product.

AMSOIL is revolutionary for its marketing. Not many others have succeeded in convincing thousands of people to spend four or five times what they should on their vehicles' oils. They've really got something going and its not going to stop soon. It might make you feel better to know you are running the best most expensive lubricants, but you are buying into one thing and one thing only, marketing.

So, dont be a sucker!
