Default Whats your Speeds? Top End and Cruise

I just took out my New (to me) 26' Cape Horn with twin 250 etecs This weekend and I was pretty happy with the speeds I was getting.

5 people, 150+ gallons of fuel and light gear. At 3300-3600 RPMS I was running between 28-34 mph.

at 5800-5900 rpms I was running right at 59mph wide open.

Just curious how those speeds compare to some of the other boats out there.

You may be able to get a little more out of her with different props. You're a little slower than I am and seems like you should be a little faster.

25 Contender w/ 250' and 24" bravo props. (28' LOA)

On plane, add 7 mph to the tach and it's a good estimation of my speed. i.e. 3500 RPM = 42 mph, 5000 RPM = 57 mph. Top speed is 64 mph +.

WOT with clean bottom - 13.5 knots

Cruise - 6 - 7 knots

I can cruise faster, just use more fuel.

21 Contender with 1997 Yamaha 200hp 4400rpm = 34 MPH burning 11GPH and currently WOT 5200 at 42mph. Getting her out of the shop with fresh rebuilt carbs hoping to see 5600 and somewhere around 45mph.

30' Scarab Sport with twin 250 E-Tecs. Top end 60 MPH with light load. Best cruise speed is around 38-40 with a good load. I have Mercury Bravo 1 four blade props, 22 pitch.

I have gotten a little more speed with some other props but thses Bravo's have the best all around performance.

I used to have a pair of 150 opti on a 26 foot CC, yes you should be getting more RPM than 5000. Those motors per Mercury should be up to 5600 WOT? You might want to give the Mercury guys a call??
