Each and every time I run my boat, I am more and more amazed by the ride.

98% of these bloggers have never ridden the older 22 Glacier, I did, what a ride! Talk about carving out 5 foot seas! That has to be the best riding boat of all time. I had a 25 SL5 for 10 years, now own a full composite 22 Seacat, high sides and high nose. With twin power, 140's, this boat is dry, light, fast, stable, safe in rough seas, and not one hint of a stress crack anywhere. Awesome boat... take it from me!

I dont think you will find a 2000 or newer Reg, albe, edgewater, contendor, etc. for 30K. I think you may need to lower your standards or look at older boats.
You can buy a brand new seachaser(by carolina skiff) 2400 for about 40k with trailer. Used ones go for around 25-35k. There NOT a regulator or contendor but there solid boats and ride well. I use mine in the northeast(out of moriches inlet) offshore shark fishing very often and have been caught in some nasty seas with no issues. Ive made in thru that inlet in 7-9ft breakers without a drop of water in the boat. Very stable platform.
Im usually running 19-23knts in 3ft seas with a few pounders in between.

There are many good choices. It is so funny to see the replies when someone asks "what the best boat" and you hear "my boat!...... No, My boat........ Wait!, my boat!!....before you buy, ride what I bought.....".

You should research resale value of boats you are considering at the age your think you may sell. Look for people reporting bad manufacturer support or problems. Crappy wiring is a big thing to watch for. Some great used boats are hard to find because they are great boats so consider this as positive.

Boats with lots of deadrise will handle better in chop but compromise stability at drift or slow speed. You need to compare minimum speed to plane which can be a BIG issue. I noticed that boats with allot of deadrise had a higher speed to plane which, if the seas get high enough, can be a big problem. If you can't achieve planing speed because the seas are just too high, you will have a long ride home.

Was it a 2000 or newer? If he found a mint condition low hour 24ft albe thats 2000 or newer for 30k or less I think its a steel. I would definately trade up for an albe with that price.

I couldn't tell you the year or the price, but I know he owns a 24' albe now.. maybe he'll share with us here?

I bought mine for $53k.. its a 2007 with a 2009 diesel ~30 hrs when I bought it. Never titled, warranties started the day I took possession so it was a new boat. I bet you can get a 2000 or newer albe for 30k. Used boats are falling out of the sky

Maybe I misunderstood the thread. I thought he was looking for the best riding 23-24ft so he can buy one for 30k, but it seems he already has one of the best. I dont get it.
Thanks for the info. BTW- You may be right about pcking up a used albe for 30k. I did a quick search and found tons of used boats for pennies on the dollar compared to new.

I believe the boat was not purchased when the thread started. If you read the whole thread the purchase was not made until the second or third page. Also An Albe may be listed at 3900.lbs dry, but that is without motor ttop fuel or any gear my 242 weighs over 6500lbs with gear and fuel...

A buddy of mine has an older Silverhawk with the Bravo 3 I/O and it is an amazing ride. The boat is quick (50+ mph), fuel efficient and the ride is unreal. I am not a big fan of the engine box but every boat has it plusses and minuses. Never ridden on any of the others you mentioned so I won't offer an opinion.

Apparently I didn't read far enough as the guys bought a boat already - good luck with it.

In albies the engine is below the cc and about flush with the deck

I have a True World 24 with the Yanmar, amazing ride, no pound. They are skinny boats so a beam sea is challenging. Can go 23-24 knots cruise and still do 17 in crap your pants seas. There are some good suggestions on this thread, my brother restores 23 Formulas (now albies) and they ride awesome. Gradys are tough, but ride like crap.Silver Hawk nice ride, never been on a small Reg. SeeVee also a nice ride.
