So the main difference is an angled bottom at the transom opposed to the rounded bottom at the transom on the albie? Does that make a significant difference? Could you tell blindfolded which boat you're in? Just curious
the rounded bottom gives a flatter surface to run on, giving a higher top speed, with less HP and fuel burned.the formula and albie have a hook in the hull wich drives the bow down at speed allowing the ultra sharp entry to cut throught he wave. I would think the hook is removed with the center engine configuration but IDK. the sharp keel gives better head sea characteristics (especcially with outboard power, weight on the transom) I have never been in a 23 regulator so I could not tell you, I own a 233 and have been in quite a few, any 23 ft center console is gonna be wet, to small of a boat not to be.as to your question i bet you would notice a bit of difference.

Take a ride on a 23 reg on a bad day,the boat likes to be pushed a little faster then you want to go.I had a 23 with twin 150s then four 26s.now have a 32.Go for the ride.
How is a sailfish wet? There is like 10 yards of hull side on those things. At 5'8" I can't even see the water when I stand in one
In any kind of wind, you get a little more spray due to softer chines, but that also means the boat does not pound. Its all trade offs, but the ride all in all is very good. Not saying its the best but one of the best.

Whats silly about it. I fished it hard for 3 seasons and wouldnt recommend one to anyone. Whats your issue? Its a first hand opinion.
Because it's silly.......no other info as to what model/power. I have had an '88 24' Grady offshore and it was a fantastic and safe boat. If you tried to run too fast it would beat you but at 20 mph it would run right through the crap. Mine had a full transom grady drive 225 ox66 Yamaha.
Hey My Gal, why dont you hug a root! I had a 24 center console as the thread referred to. I fished it in the ocean, not that its your business, and had a single Yamaha 250 on it. I took it out as far as 60 miles many times. How about you bite me and dont worry about the small stuff. I recommend that no one fishes the ocean with a 24 Grady center console. Hows that tuff guy!

My choices up till this point have been seacraft, albe 24cc and the silver hawk. I would love to get a 2000 or newer on a trailer for around 30,000. Do you tow your Albe with that toyota FJ cruiser and if so how does it tow? Guys I am really looking for something that will give me a dry ride in 3 footers and be a trouble free rig that the family can enjoy too.

if you want a dry stable ride in 3ft seas on a boat that small you want an inboard, and have money to spare for a nice enclosure
If ride is your primary concern, it's hard to beat a World Cat 23 in this size range. I won't get into the cat/mono debate, but a WC23 will outride an Albe 24 in any condition except a big quartering/following sea.
An Albemarle 24 is a wet boat; don't let anyone tell you otherwise. They're great boats, built like a tank, economical, great handling, but they are definitely wet.
If I were choosing a monohull in this size range, I would pick a Contender 23T, Reg 24, or McKee 24.
For the money, a repowered Albe 24 is probably the most bang for the buck, if you don't mind an i/o.

A rounded bottom creates more surface area which equals more surface drag. It also keeps boat from track as straight as a hull with a sharp defined shape. If you look at any go fast hull you will not see a rounded bottom. for both reasons lack of stability and lack of speed.
The Reg is slower because it weighs more than most boats 4 feet longer than 23' That is also the reason that it has a better head sea ride. If you have the same shape but more weight simple physics same with speed. Same shape with less weight
I'm a seacraft hull fan. My hull is a copy of that hull. I give up nothing to the others mentioned plus I'm more efficient with less power.
The 23 reg would be my second choice
If I had lots of cash My first choice would be the 246 Renaissance Prowler with twin 140 suks That is the best riding boat I have fished in 24' and under. It's much fast than the WC 3 has the storage of a 27' vee hull (you can put 2,128qt coolers in the 2 rear fish boxes and still have room for an anchor ball and other misc. stuff)

Everyone that has been in my boat has described it as "very dry" ?
