Smile Repower Outboards

Hello

I am considering buying a hull for my engines and am not sure wheather it may be a nightmare

The boat was rigged with 250 Merc 2 stroke Outboards
I have 300 Yamaha 300 2 Stroke Outboards

My questions are about the controls, gauges, and mounting
There are jackplates on the boat

Any input would be greatly appreciated

Rob

What kind of hull is it? The merc gauges and controls won't work. Just pull them out and install some Yamaha rigging so you know everything will work. Not to hard to derig, just tape pull cords to the end of the merc stuff when you pull it out to pull the yammy stuff back through. You can reuse the oil lines, fuel lines and battery cables. You'll have to pull out 2 wiring harnesses, 4 throttle cables, and two oil tank harnesses.

Why pull the throttle cables? Can't he just change the ends?

Not sure if you can. Merc cables have a big round tab on them on the motor side, yamaha's are just notched. Why not replace them? Thats a small cost for new smooth working cables.

its not a night mare but a Re Rig is definetly in order.....

the merc control cables are different, the engine harnessing is different, the oil tanks and hoses are different.....with some real jury rigging some of the harnessing and guages may work but its probably more difficult to do that then replace evenrything....
