how much oil usage?

I have a new Yahama 90/2 on a 17'5 CC
I have gone through 3/4 of a tank of fuel (30 gal) and my gauge is still reading full for oil
I would have thought you would use the oil in the motor at the 1:1 with a tank of fuel -

But then again maybe not?

The old rule of thumb is 50 galones of gas per gallon of 2 stroke oil.

According to the Yamaha website the new HPDI's are supposed to be better than the others. So if you base oil useage on that statement it should be better then 50:1.

By better, I am presuming that you mean more than 50 gallons of gas before a gallon of oil is used.

2 brand new 200 HPDI/s, 120 miles, 53 gallons of gas. 1/2 gallon per engine at the time the computer is calling for higher amounts of oil during the break in.

4 people on board, started with 184 gals. of gas.

Have you looked at your oil tank to see whats left in it?
The guage doesnt work like a fuel guage. It stays at the full mark till the tank drops to something like 20% remaining!

Learning new gauges is always a n 'art'. The fuel read 1/2 for a few hours then took about 15 minutes to drop top alsmost nothing.
I have a gallon of yamalube stored on board for just such a situation.
