Default Norwalk CT. Boat Show

Went to the Norwalk Cove Marina boat show this weekend with the wife. We mainly went to meet the Hilstrand Brothers from Deadliest Catch the TV Show about crab fishing. They were very nice and down to earth guy's and acted just like they do on the tube. I am not much into the whole groupie thing but I did want to meet these guy's. Got our pics with them and had them autograph my Guy Harvey fishing visor.

On another note I saw this Keywest CC brand new 2010 model that looked like a pretty nice boat until I saw how much they wanted for it. Man was I blown away with the price. $59,999.00 for a small center console with single outboard and a KEYWEST?????? I don't know about you guy's but if I am going to drop that kind of change on a boat it isn't going to be a Keywest.

Hahaha. Yeah, we had a few guys come to out booth (Regulator), and asked for a comparison of the two. They looked at me crossed eyed when I told them they are not even in the same class of boats............

$59k? That does seem steep for a Key West, which is what is in a class called "entry level boats".

Hey Crazy8,
Congrats on the sale of your super nice boat. I was telling my wife that those boats have always been an entry level boat and for them to be asking 60K for one of their models is asking for a miracle. It may be completely worth that price but their reputation isn't going to help them sell many of those to people who know what they are looking at. Oh well I just thought it was a bit shocking to see that kind of price on a Keywest.

Yes we did climb aboard that boat. It was a pretty and impressive machine for sure but for $408K I can find plenty of other boats i would want more than a Boston Whaler CC with triples.

I thought the key west was real nice as well. What surprised me is that it only handles 300 HP.

Here is a funny thing for you to think about. I went to the Boston Whaler website and built a 370 Outrage adding options I would want and then calculated the financing.

$10,000 Down
120 Months financed @ 6% (I don't even know if you could get financing this low)
$6,374 per month
Price: $488,061

I stepped onto the 370 outrage. Unreal. Does it come with a built in "Ho"? The tackle station, rod storage, refridgerated fish boxes, mist control, sliding door! WOW. Except the $ tag. I did think the Edgewater 24CC was reasonably priced. $74K. The german girls were the best though.

The show was less than impressive this year.
I still like the Ocean 37. Nice layout

That 37 Whaler was unique, but I have to tell you all of those gadgets break. Plus cleaning? TONS of nooks and crannies to wax and maintain. No Thanks!!! Its a unique boat with some good features, but for $400k there is absolutely no shot.

I thought the show was a VERY accurate depiction of the boat market - the strong bringing product and the weak not bringing much at all...

I hope the show brought some business to those in the boat business - they sure could used it....
