Bottom One for me to.

Cruising at 44 will spoil you. We cruise at 48-50 and fish 60 miles out all the time...it is nice to turn home and see the eta being 1 hr 15, not 2 hours 30 minutes.

Your boat is being bult in Sarasota where Kinetic Animation is located. They are very very good. Personally, I dont care for names on the sides of boat. I think it looks cleaner and bigger (not that it needs to) with nothing.

My opinion, lettering on sides of recreation boats are played out...good for advertising, promoting, or charter services. I like the idea of putting the lettering on the backside above the splashwell. Makes it easier to keep wax residues from getting around the decal and boogering things up. Anyhow, the boat looks great no matter what you put on it and where you decide to put it.

Got to visit again today. Lots more wiring and detail work being done makes it appear to be less progress than it really is. The bilge looks just about finished with fittings, filters, and lots of pieces tucked in down there. The first liner in the center console is on, and they were cutting holes to make things fit while I was there. I am planning another trip Friday, and the boat should look close to finished.

One more dry trip, then she should be in the water next week!

Since when can you use water separators with a plastic bowl in the bilge of a gasoline powered boat? Please tell me this is something "new" from Racor, and that the guys at YF really aren't that stupid...

What's wrong with the water separators? I have the same in my boat.

The guys from YF are not "stupid"; Racor mfg has been doing this setup for some years now...maybe you should take up your complaints with them and/or just look at Sea Ray pictures instead of this man's YF.

Detour, fantastic boat, she is coming along very nicely...you will be nothing but thoroughly impressed I'm sure with this boat. Oh, sweet place for your new rig by the way...nice that the sunset is free!!

From a distributor's website.

Racor Spin On fuel and water separators feature see-thru contaminant collection bowls with drain valve for outboards and metal bowls for inboard powered boats. Cleaner fuel meets stricter air quality standards including 33 CFR and USCG standards, and means your boat's engine runs stronger and more efficiently.
See-Thru bowls can only be mounted below deck with Outboard Applications. If See-thru bowl is used with an I/O or inboard, the filter must be mounted above deck for USCG approval. Metal bowls can be used for inboard or outboard applications above or below decks.

tobnpr, you have complained about this mans boat since the beginning. Yellowfins build is far far far superior to sea ray, maybe theres a hint of jealousy idk, but seriously youve been wrong on just about everything youve stated on this thread, dont you think you could give it a rest. I am a boat builder and when i start my own company here in the next few years I hope that my customer satisfaction and build quality are just like yellowfins.

And Detour you have an absolute beautiful boat, dont let this idiot make you think any different. I wish you the best of luck and again your boat is stunning and cant wait to see some pics of her in the water.

Detour,

Is that a new style leaning post for the 42? Looks different and great!

You will love the plug-n-play connections for livewell pumps and etc in the bilge. Keep an extra on board and switch out if an issue.

Yeah... I don't know WTF I'm talking about. You're all correct.

If you're gonna post pictures of the bilge, aren't you asking for comments?

"Outboard" applications refer to above-deck installations only. Not below decks... if it's below deck, it's tantamount to an inboard installation.

I stand by my statement. Plastic bowl separators are approved for above-deck installations (outboard) only.

It's on your McKee because- it's an outboard boat and your separator is above-deck- right??

If I'm wrong, PROVE IT.

And really guys, the "you're jealous" crap really needs to stop... believe me, I'm not... and not that it's anyone's business, I've got the tax returns to prove it. So let it go...

And, I really do wish Detour the best with the new boat.

Amazing. Racor has had that "new" technology out for years now. That's the way they are on my Mckee as well. As others have said, IS there ANYTHING at all that you like about a yellowfin?? Detour, beautiful boat. Hell, I'm even in love with the lift! Very nice setup all the way around

Detour.......that is one awesome rig you have. YF's attention to detail is pretty impressive. That being said, I wouldn't want to see your future fuel bills with quad Verado's. jk

Good luck and congrats.

Looking great. If I were you, I would change my setting to ignore any post by "tobnpr"

Personally, I prefer a clean look along the side of the boat. The boat is so pretty, I would let it speak for itself.

Each evolution of that leaning post gets better and better. How is that being set up? Looks like a livewell to starboard, what will go in that port cut out?

Keep the pics coming.

My Scout and Edgewater had the same Racors mounted in the bilge.

I like the leaning post but not the rod holder bumpouts. Looks like something to injure yourself on.

And, I really do wish Detour the best with the new boat.

I modded the quote to remove anything but what we are talking about here.

I googled the filters, and according to many sources, it is "permissable" to mount these below deck on outboard apps. Their is a significant difference between an inboard and outboard application. I don't think it is tantamount to an inboard application if it is below deck because their is no combustion going on below deck. Inboards, and I/O's have combustion below decks as well. Feel free to google it and see if that sheds a different light on it for you.

I won't give tobnpr the ignore treatment, I think it is easy on these forums to come across a lot harsher than you intend to, just kind of an email doesn't always translate the way you mean it thing. I think he puts his thoughts down in good faith, having said that, I do have to take a deep breath before I reply sometimes.

So far as the leaning post goes, the livewell is insulated so I can use it for a cooler if wanted, livewell, trashcan, you name it. Their is quite a bit that should take place by Friday. Their is a tilt out drawer that is not cut out yet that will have heavy plastic bags underneath on pins for teasers, rigs etc. Four different types of leader, and a spot on top for what I call "hot tools" knife, pliars, crimps, stuff that you need all the time so everyone knows where it is and where to put it back. The large cut out is for a fridge and all the comforts they have to offer on an August day is SW Florida.
