Nice seeing the "Un-Reel" in your signature river, it does nothing to ease my endless pacing.... brooding in front of the windows, scowling when I see my current boat etc..... .
River1, Nice pic of Crab Island whatcha fishing for there?. HAHA. I have seen your boat, Don't you keep it at Brooks Bridge Dry Storage? I will tell you, These boats are Freaking awesome. A good friend of mine used to run the one in our area called MerriKohl. Fished it several times. BADASS is all I can say. Detour you will love it.
No I keep it at Legendary in Destin at the by the Mid Bay Bridge. Gonna stay there at the condo and fish until the end of Oct. Then bring it back to the house in MS.
Interesting. I have Centroid senders but they have the flange/gasket mounting setup. Is it common for fuel tanks now to be manuf with that 1-1/2" NPT setup for senders? Never seen that before.
Glen: Can you give some detail as to what "clear coa"t is and what it does to protect the finish?
YF uses Awlgrip and I understand that to be of very low maintenance?
thanks again for your informative advice.
PS: One beautiful boat.

But if you are, I would tow it to a good painter and clear coat the hull. It will stay like your pic above for 10 years with no maintenance except a car wash soap and a hose. Tow it to B&R autobody in Pompano. $100 a foot. Here's a fountain 34 he did:
otherwise you got a hulldetail every 4-6 months and that won't really do it either...

I think they just came out with them in the past year, but the NPT should greatly reduce water intrusion and mounting problems by eliminating the large gasket/5 screw set up.
clear coat is automotive paint- same stuff as your lexus, bmw or benz uses. Completely seals the surface and when you scratch it, it can be fixed much easier then awlgrip. I just put a foot long scratch from a concrete dock in my hull, 1 hour later, using a random orbital and 3 grades of polish, it was gone. The gloss is the deepest you can get, just like a custom car. It needs to stay out of the water and will last 10 years.

By "staying out of the water", I think Glen means out of the water by any extended amount of time (i.e. should not keep boat w/ clear coat in water for couple of weeks straight); no problem in normal use or keeping the boat in water for a long weekend.
I know as had this exact thing done to a dark colored Fountain I had.
Spoke to a local dealer in my area about the fuel tanks and they said that they could Linex it for me. Any suggestions on this fellas? Started another thread about the subject totally forgot about doing it here first...tired from work so not thinking straight.

Q: After an absolutely crazy morning of business...
What kind of idiot grabs the camera, throws the new antenae through the storage hole in the trunk, jumps in the car and rides to see their new boat, goes to take that first pic and notices a strange warning on the viewfinder.... NO CARD. That's right 90 minutes in the car one way.... Video card tucked safely away in the card reader on the home PC... Priceless....
I did have a chance to talk about the fuel tanks, and since I am in no position to answer anyone who disagrees with their answer, please feel free to call them and discuss it. I was satisfied with the answer.
YF does not put a coating on their aluminum tanks. They said that there are a myriad of concerns with fuel tank placement and installation, and that the coating were not the silver bullett to aluminum corrosion. Several coating were named, I remember coal tar epoxy coating and zinc chromate primer. In all instances it was possible for moisture to get between this barrier and the aluminum as well, in which case the corrosion occurrs. I was told it was at least as important to keep the compartment away from moisture and vice-versa. The foam is closed cell foam, the tanks are in compartments designed specifically for that purpose and nothing else, the inspection ports are silicone sealed. Finally the tank itself is 1/4 inch aluminum significantly thicker than the industry standard. They finished up saying that they had been using aluminum mains for 9 years, and had not had a problem with corrosion on any tank to date.
That was as much of the conversation that I can remember and post here. I love to fish, and I love my fishing boat. This stuff is not my forte'.
I have no flame-proof suit to dawn, but given what I have been able to absorb from my research and speaking with owners of the boats, I have confidence in them as a builder to know their craft.
Thanks for expressing your concern for me over the fuel tank issue, I just don't want to see it spin up and form a tempest in a teacup.
BTW, feel free to flame over leaving the photo card at home and not having it in the camera...... What a moron.
Well for 90 minutes of driving and a boat at that price a visit to Walmart to pick up a new card would have made all of us very happy. So we're all very disappointed.
I doubt that you will every experience the corrosion that is going to occur on the fuel tanks, its bound to happen. I think everyone was in awe that they were not coated, or didn't offer you the option to have them coated.
The answer you got kinda reminds me of the logic, we're all going to die...so why exercise and watch our diet.
She's a beautiful boat you're going to really enjoy her.
We're (well most) are extremely envious.
