Detour keep pics coming. I see the world at 10 knots in my trawler- it's nice to see the other faster side boating.

You Yellowfin guys are something else.

If a build thread of a 42' Yellowfin (heck, insert any brand for that matter) doesn't get your blood flowing as a boat guy, then why do you even come to this forum?

"Economy Screen" Do yo even care? I am just joking.

BTW, engine hours. The discrepancy in the hours between the 2 outside engine vs the 2 inside? Is there a scenario where you regularly are using just the 2 (like trolling or something)? or was it just that way from the various testing you have done?

As always - Enjoy!

Not that I want it for this thread, but that does sound useful. unfortunately, I can't locate. I see the "Thread Tools" but when I click it, I get a pull down menu with 3 choices:
Show printable version
email this page
subscribe to this thread

Can someone help?

That's the same thing I see. However, if you click on "User CP" and then under "Settings and Options" you see "Edit Ignore List"

It is right there on mine, under the "subscribe to this thread" setting, on this and other threads that I go to. Not sure if it is an Admiral's Club thing or what??

The input to the Merc Monitor uses Mercury's proprietary code. It then converts the data to NMEA 2000. Most other motor/engine brands already transmit in NMEA. It can go straight to the Garmin or others without the monitor. So no it won't work on other motors.

I think you hit the nail on the head:

Admirals Club
  • Access to Group Member Forums!
  • Ability to post classifieds in the Trading Dock Forum!
  • Cool Icon!
  • Embed video in posts!
  • Post a mini-video to your Profile!
  • Customize your experience with a comprehensive ignore system!
  • Cover your tracks with a "Panic" button that hides the site!

Look at the 2nd to last "bullet"

No big deal, maybe one day I will join, just have no need to right now.

More importantly (well, just to satisfy my curiosity) what about the engine hours? Do you troll on just 2?

Sorry bout that, yup, trolling accts for engine hours. That difference is prep and fishing the Sailfish Open. about 6 days of fishing, we kite fished and drifted primarily, but when slow trolling cut the inside two and used the outers. I need to start using the inside two for power anchoring to even them back out.

Default Wow

I just found this thread and wow what a beautiful boat. It hurts to see you going out at tenth street in Sarasota the ramp I use and comparing it to my boat. Once again that boat is incredible.

Nothing to be "sorry" about - I am just a nosey PIA. Thanks for the answer though. If you ever need/want any crew to share the work and expense - let me. I will set the speed record for crossing Alligator Alley!

Had a chance to take her out today for some fishing. I really wanted to play with the Merc Monitor and get a feel for it. I will do a more extensive write up on it once I get back from a short trip. The short version is, WOW, look at all the info this gives me, and in a way that makes it simple to use for what you want.

The Economy screen is pretty amazing, though I may have some tweaking to do to get exactly what I want out of it. It directs you as to where to set the trim and throttle(RPM) to achieve best burn. Very cool stuff really, and easy to use because of the graphical nature it is presented in.

Glen posted some specs and photos on veradoclub.com, here: http://www.veradoclub.com/smf/index.php?topic=2403.0

Looking forward to getting back so I can walk you through my findings.

Just wanted to give everyone going to the Miami Boat show an update, and let them know that "The Office" will be on display at the Yellowfin booth for the show. I plan on coming over Friday, and think it would be great to meet up with any fellow THT'ers who are there that day. Might be a good time to check out the Merc Monitor if you haven't had a chance to see one in person.

Hope to see you there!
