Since she is new and has powder-coat, get a tube of dielectric grease and put a smear on every stainless fastener that is touching the powder-coat. That is the first place corrosion will start. Wipe the rest down with something like Woodys Wax or Fluid Film regularly. If you get the smallest chip, put a dab of matching touch-up paint on it immediately. I just used a color matched automotive touch-up tube from the local parts store. Keep it on the boat.

Detour the boat came out great, really looking forward to sharing my build with everyone when mine sells.
do you have to worry about birds nesting under the roof and crapping on the boat?
I am having a "ceiling" of 5/8 plywood put up to add strength to the structure, keep the wind away from the metal roof bottom, and keep birds out as well.
Thanks to all of you for the suggestions, I am all over them once I read them.
You should also paint the wood and it will last longer. Or you could use pressure treated plywood but todays chemicals arent worth a crap, my landscape timbers around the house all ready rotted away after 3 years.

Landscape timbers are not treated to a saturation level (.20 or .40 etc.) but to a point of "refusal". Landscape timbers are cores and too dense to absorb the treatment. That is why they don't last as long as say a regular 4x4x4x8 treated post that is treated to a saturation point. For the most part landscape timbers are a byproduct of the paper mills. The mills strip off all the soft stuff and sell the cores.

Now back to the subject at hand. Nice Boat!!
I do construction and have built many retaining walls out of landscape timbers. I have seen wall that I built 10 years ago with the old chemicals and they are still as solid as can be. I did timbers around my house when they switched to a new safer (none working) chemical and they have rotted away quickly. It has nothing to do with their saturation and everything to do with the cheap ass chemicals they use now.
Actually, you are both correct. The old treatment was cheap and they used a lot of the chemical on all types of treated lumber. There were no different levels for different tyoes of wood.
The new "safer" treatment is expensive so there are different levels of treatment. 1x material like decking gets the least amount of chemical, 2x structural material gets a medium dose, and 4x or larger that is intended for ground contact gets the largest dose.
This thread is of no use to me if the OP doesn't post additional pics!!
Whats left? He posted complete build pics, finished pics. Then topped it all off with the boat sitting on his bad ass lift in front of his sweet water front home.
The only thing missing are some hotties in G-strings holding the rods.

I would really like to see a detailed tour of the completed project. I have been following and drooling quite a bit. I would like to see how it all came together. Ludicus boat show style.
The boat was water tested today, an amazing machine to say the least!
Pretty machine. Start a thread and walk us through all the gizmos, there seem to be plenty on top, at the helm, and in the leaning post, 2 fridges or??
Looking at these boats I think they would be killer set up as an express with full cabin. Or even a CC but with a massive cuddy and a regular console w/head. I'm not a hard core fisherman so I don't need that huge open bow.
