Default When to sea trial

I bought my boat from a friend and we did the sea trial while fishing. My question is when or do you determine the prospective buyer in driveway is sincere and worth a taking on a sea trial. Do you have them put down a deposit or just use your judgement in humans. Thanks

Sea trial happens after price is negotiated and after deposit is left by buyer.* It should happen with the surveyor present if there is going to be a surveyor.* This way only one sea trial is necessary.

Good Luck!

Default RE: When to sea trial

I drove from Washington, DC to South Carolina to buy my present boat. I suppose that the seller knew I was serious about the boat or I would never have made the drive in the first place. He didn't have any concerns about taking me out on the boat when I got there.

I guess if people are just showing up in your driveway it's hard to gauge if they are for real or not.

When I sold my last boat I knew the people I was negotiating with. I just let them tow the boat away and use it for a couple of weeks while I was on vacation. Again, this is a special case.

YachtJim seems to have a pretty good scenario set up.
