Marine Power engine or Volvo Penta

We need a new motor for our Chapparell. Does anyone have recommendations as to a Marine Power Engine complete bobtail 5.7, fuel injection, fresh water cool vs. somethign like a volvo penta with the same characteristics. We spend most of our time in the Ches. Bay (OC area) THANKS SO MUCH

I saw a Marine Power replacement for a Volvo have problems running when the ECM for the Volvo Feul Injected was used. The technician came to the conclusion that the cam on the Marine Power was ground different and the EC didn't like it. This was a very competent marine technician. He tried to get them to use a Volvo replacement but the owner wouldn't go for the cost. I never heard the outcome.

I had a carbed 5.7 Marine Power engine; only positive things to say about it. No direct Volvo experience, but they have a rep for expensive parts.

I'd be surprised if there was any difference in the engine long block..Chevrolet builds them. The difference between the Chevrolet marine cam and the stock street cam is minimal.
