Default Yamaha F250b installation elec throttles and shift cost

Went to two of Islamorada finest Yami dealers.
First for quote to convert our 33 World Cat with regular 2xF250s ,upper and lower stations F250 with 704 manual throttles and shift.TWO engines ......> $10,000 LIST PRICES
Big dollar items:
6X6482072000 Lower Remote Control (ie elec T+S binnacle $2850
6X648207100 Upper Remote Control $1850
harnesses $1136
total 5836

Other quoted parts which included Command Link System
different part number than earlier F250 Command Link.. ~ $4000
one part number 6x6we83d2000 for $1,491 , I am not sure what it is????

Next :
FORGET converting a regular F250 to F250B.Finally got to see an F250B service manual.
page 5-2.
The F250B right lower portion of the block has three (3) cast in the block mounting bosses. The shift actuator 6AW-4820A-00-00 is held in place by 3 bolts 9708030-00.
The old F250 does NOT have these bosses.

there are different part numbers for the old F250 (2005 - Jul 2008)
and the new F250B block.

So if you want new F250B's for your old boat then be prepared for the conversion cost.

http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Ya...ROL/parts.html

Yamaha parts on line are NOT up to date for F250B, ie there ain't none yet.

If you plan to convert F250 engines to F250Bs then contact your dealer for quotations

Don't cry about the price. Brian does super well. If he wants the best he'll need to pay. :D

Pete,
We knew the cost last Sept. However we found some regular mech shift F250s in the system. We actually got the last of the Mohegans.

To convert to F250Bs last Sept ,dealer had not done it yet. They had seen about 3 factory delivered ones w Bs
Changing from F250 to new F250 (not Bs) took about 3 hours.
He had planned on being out of the water 2 days. It took less time and he did a lot of other stuff like bottom painting.

If we had converted to Bs the dealer said it could be three days.
You have to rip out all of upper and lower station throttle shift cables, ALL the harnesses.
4 god awful upper / lower servo boxes.

So if he buys a NEW WC 330TE now rated for 700HP in the future it will have 2X F250Bs ,maybe 2xF350's

Will the F250B work older style gauges (pre 1995) for tachometer/water pressure/tilt?

I'd be curious how the ass-end of that 33TE is going to sit with 2 F350's - I don't see it.

But who knows. :D

How's biz. Is he keeping busy?

Post Just converted to 250 Bs from 250 As

Asked Yamaha to make a conversion package available. Not having a package might be hurting the sales of 250 Bs.

Will only work with Micro Link gauges. You need a new shifter, ECU comes attached to it, 2 harnesses, a speedo and water temp module. A N. C. mechanic took the As off, loaded them onto a trailer for the new owner, put the Bs on, pulled the old harnesses out, pulled new ones thru, removed the old shifter and cables, bolted on new shifter, plugged the harnesses in, bolted on the speed and water temp, on an Onslow Bay 23 T/E.

Yamaha is pricing the parts out, when the part nos. and prices are available, will post it.

The digital shifter is sweet, quick and quiet. Especially ike the synchronizing of the motors.

World Cat has built several 330TE with F350's.
The basic boat is a little nose heavy to begin with.
We are NOT impressed with F350 cruise mpg vs F250 and it only weighs 400 lbs more with
F350s.
Our battlewagon with bridge and extras w F250s weighs 15,000 lbs.
It would weigh 15,400 w F350s

15000/ 15400 is only 1% more tail heavy. That's like farting in a whirlwind.

http://www.worldcat.com/boats/center...ition_prop.php

Maybe since Yami bought Turbo props in IND,IN. there may be some better F350 props for cruising.
