Failing Low Pressure Fuel Pump? Yami F115 Am I dealing with the symptoms of a failing Low Pressure Fuel Pump? I have twin Yami F115s (year 2000) that have been pretty fault free since installation. Late last year I noted on my fuel mgmt system that the fuel consumption rate on the Starboard unit was a little high (10-15%) and fluctuating. At 4K RMP the SB unit would bounce between 4.7 and 5.2 gph and the Port would stay steady at 4.4 gph. At WOT, the SB ran at 8.2 to 8.7 gph and the P ran at a steady 7.4 gph. As a check, I swapped the fuel lines from the FMgmt system to the OBs and the problem follow the engine. This spring I changed the fuel filters on the engines and noted that the P ran the winterized fuel (2 cycle mixture, blue in color) right out of the clear filter bowl. The SB did not and I figured it was due to a longer fuel line to the motor. Sunday, while checking oil level, I noted that the SB filter bowl still had blue fuel at the bottom. I definitely would not have expected this. Both engines appear to be running fine. They both hit 5K RPM at WOT and a full fuel and passenger load. I sense no hesitation in the starboard unit and it always starts up on the first flip of the switch. Any suggestions? Changing the LP fuel pump appears to be a simple task.
Thanks,
