Random Quote: There are no bad boats, just some better than others...
I just bought a 2008 23 Proline DC with a 225 Verado. The prop has no manufacture identification marks. The only thing stamped on it says 5006 19. The boat only tops out @ 41 MPH @ 5200 RPM's. Does anybody have a 225 Verado on their 23 Proline to help me figure out the right prop? I can not even reach the 5800-6400 RPM to properly break in the engine. This boat was bought as is across the state as is so I do not plan on any help from the people I purchased it from
most likely it's a combo of low height and too much prop - read this and then everything in the new owner's section. We have plenty of proline/erado owners on the site:

HI ALLEN!
With the long weekend I wont be back at the office til Tuesday.
You can PM me on this site, or, mcarrigan@prolinemail.net
You should be high 40's, perhaps 50.
I had intended a follow up call to you.
Lets talk, Ok?
You have been more than helpful and it is truly appreciated. This 23 Proline DC is fabulous! I keep inspecting the boat inside and out and the workmanship is great! I will have to get your work number again because I was so excited to finally get this boat, I jumped in the water at the beach and was wondering what the vibration was in my pocket. It was my water soaked cell phone dying, LOL.

Did you recieve my PM?
THANK YOU FOR BUYING A PRO-LINE
Just so everyone understands, my prop issues are not Proline problems, and I have not contacted the dealer with these issues yet. I bought the boat across the state and will try to resolve these issues via email. It’s too far to drive to see them. Mike Carrigan read my post and is trying to help me with my issues which is greatly appricated!
mark my words: you engine can come up a few notches and you should run a rev 4 15. The rev 4 15 was specifically made for verados in this situation (>21 feet, single applications of 250 hp and below)
don't screw with props till the engine height is right....
Glen,
It's a whole other issue.
The outboard is mounted correctly.
There's a clearcut issue here.
There's no mounting issue.
Should be real easy to solve.
Hopefully will be real fast.
Your viewpoints have merit, and would often be correct, but not in this case.
I'd prefer not to.
That's Allens call, not mine.
Allen and I, nor Allen and PRO-LINE have an issue.
We're fine.
I like Allen and intend to try to help.
I think I know what the problem is, as I think Allen doe's as well.
What's important to me is that he's 100% satisfied with his new PRO-LINE.

The idea of this site is to share information and experiences. The OP asked for help here and on The Verado Club. Responses from other members have offered good advice.
Why not share what you know so we can all get something out of the thread?
I bought a new boat from a dealership who use to be an authorized Proline dealer which is NOT an authorized dealer anymore. Mike Carrigan felt it was his duty to warn me about the many boats being bounced around over the last few years due to the economy. He was concerned that some of these boats are being sold not the way they left the Proline factory by unauthorized dealers. Well, the deal was great so I took my chances and drove across the state to purchase the boat bar that it wasn’t missing too much. I water tested it and it ran great and the boat was everything I expected. I looked up the engine parameters and beak in instructions when I got home and noticed that the boat was at least 800 RPM's to low. The prop was labeled twice with a permanent marker. The old marker said 2400 SC and the new marker said 23 DC 04J. The prop is stamped outside 5006 19, and inside the hub 15 ¼ X 19 I am quit sure that this prop is not what left the factor and I was fore warned by Mike and he was right. I am going to contact the dealership on Monday and try to work it out with them to prop the boat correctly. Mike did not want to bring up the fact that he warned me about what could happen due to these "deals" that are going on to protect my privacy. Well, in the end I would have still bought this boat even if it did not have a prop and Mike just wants to help me see things through. Mike will let me know Tuesday what the factor prop should be to get things straight. Anyway, I would still like to know a Proline owner with a 23 sport or DC who has a 225 Verdao to see what they are running, like maybe a mercury marine prop. Once again, this is not a Proline factory issue and Mike sure has gone out of this way to help me!
OK, so it is a prop issue. As I posted on The Verado Club a 15p Rev4 will be a good starting point. I have tested many props on my old 23' walkaround and again on my current 21' CC. On both boats the rev4 has proven to be the best all round prop. I ran the 15p on the walkaround but had to go with a 17p on the CC as it would go slightly past the 6400rpm limit with a 15p.
The 19p is overpropped. The general rule is rpm should increase by 200-250rpm for every inch of pitch you come down. If you are only seeing 5200rpm with a 19p then with a 15p you should see somewhere around 6000-6200rpm. Make sure the ventilation plate on the Verado is level with or slightly above the water surface at cruise to ensure correct mounting hieght.
this is no "right" prop - talk to Ken at propgods -after he interviews you, he can offer some suggestions....the former post had all that we would be able to recommend
