Default temp sensor

i think i cooked my motor because it overheated.....once it is fixed, i would like to retrofit an analog temp sensor to the block somewhere....any ideas?....anyone done this?

yamaha 150 1990.....i was thinking about a simple installation, perhaps a digital thermometer with the probe simply sitting in a small tube that is attached to the block with a blob of epoxy....nothing fancy

Why don't you just buy a Yamaha temp gauge? The motor has an attachment point (a bolt) that you remove and screw in the sensor and mount the gauge on your dash.

Or you could buy the aftermarket kind, which has a temp sensor that is on its own bracket which makes mechanical contact with the head and connects to a 2" guage.

I have an analog Teleflex gauge installed and it works well. If I had it to do over again this is what I would use. It has an alarm so if I am not monitoring the gauges as I should be it will let me know if the engine is getting warm.
