Default 35 Contender Side Console Cruise numbers

Just got a 2002 35 side console with twin yamaha 225 4 strokes. Boat cruises at 32 mph at 4400 rpm's and burns 22 gph. Looking for any feedback abut other cruise figures from other 35 side console owners. By the way, anyone want to speculate what this boat would do with a pair of 350 Verado's (not out yet - but soon I'm told).

If you decide to repower, be sure to check with Contender before hanging on any extra weight. They had some problems with first edition Yamaha 350's cracking transoms... You may need to have the transom reinforced...

BTW: I have the 31' Contender FA with the same motors, I cruise a little faster on the same rpm's and get a little better burn. I do love my boat, nice layout and a BIG COCKPIT..

Which one did you Buy? I have been looking at these models as well and have wondered what a repower would do. May be our next boat as well. Please post up some photos!

go to pelagic navigator .com ask for marshgrass. she has a 35 side console and has had 3 different engine combos. 2-strokes , f 225s and f 250b 's. she can give you the scoop. i fish on the boat a lot and would like to see it with 350's but i don't think it can handle the weight. it already seems stern heavy with the 250's.

I repowered one with 300 Verados, some basic numbers, at 4000 RPMs, the boat cruises at 33 mph burning 20 gph and 4500 RPMs 38 mph burning 30 gph, WOT was right at 50 burning 60 gph. This boat has a full tower with controls, 22' Rupp riggers, etc. Numbers were recorded with full fuel on board and two people. Weight between the Verados and 225 4-strokes that came off was not much, bottom paint did not even have to be reaised, however, the performance increase was night and day, about 8 mph was picked up accross the board.
