What will 10k buy me? 21-23ft, with a trailer. Want a ttop and a motor that isnt underpowered, dont care about it being older as long its in good condition. Is it worth buying a 10k boat? To risky to go offshore with a boat like that?, it will spend the majority of its life in my possesion on the lakes.
There are plenty of boats in 20 - 22 ft with t-top etc... around your price range. When i was looking for my wellcraft, i looked through each florida's listing, GA, SC and NC. It's the buyer's market,

I live in Tyler, Tx / College Station, Tx. Im only 20 years old, but have spent my life boating and saving for my own boat some day. My desires have brought me to a center console: Decent resale, versatility of people holding, fishing, and storage, and most imporantly the durable construction that makes it possible for a 10 year old boat to still be nice.
I would say 60% of my boating will be lakes bass/striper fishing.
30% will be lake water sports
10% will be in the gulf, running maybe 30 miles out and fishing the rigs.

1995 Hull/1996 Yamaha 115 Engine. Sportsman's Trailer. T-top. I haven't used this boat in a year, which is the only reason I am selling it. The boat is in excellent shape. It does not have a meter, and I do not know how many hours. Its extremely clean. It has current registration. Comes with a fishfinder that needs a transducer. I will be in Sea Drift on Friday and can show the boat then. Please call me with any questions. Steve 214 924-1247

It will buy you a SH-T load of charters. Save your money and book some charters. No depreation and no boat owning BS..... Sure is nice to jump off the boat, have your fish cleaned and roll. No maintenance issues, insurance, etc. Thats the route that I am going from here on out !!! It's a no brainer !!

What is your tow vehicle? How much can you tow? There's plenty of older boats on the market that meet your price point and would be safe for 30+ miles out, but these may challenge your truck. Of the two that were shown - no problem with a Ranger/Trailblazer-class, but if you've got a Suburban or F250, you may want to look at a 5000 to 8000 pound rig.
I dont know how the boat shopping is where your at, but I bought my boat in the begining of the season for $8,500. Its a 1999 Wellcraft center console 22' with a 175hp Oceanpro, it came with everything working, new FF/GPS combo. The trailer is an "04" Magic tilt and in great condition. It's my first boat and I love every minute I spend on it. The only thing I had to do it was a good detailing, and I added a CD player with two speakers. If you have the cash, it shouldn't be hard for you to get a good boat for that money. Just so you know I took it out 30 miles in 4' sea's last weekend and brought home three grouper 28-30" and a couple of mangrove snapper, all in a couple of hours. Look into Craigslist, but be sure to get a compression check, and sea trial BEFORE YOU BUY.

Ill give you 9,000 for it. and a 100 for the wash job Thanks for the tips man, where did you find your boat? Thats an incredible deal.
There are not alot of center consoles around here, so i usually just look on boat trader. Thanks again

Haha, I found it on Craigslist. The guy wanted 10, but cash talks. There are a lot of good deals out there, you just have to be proactive. Figure out exactly what you want so when the right one comes along you can shoot over an offer and get it before someone else does. The best thing about getting a good boat in this price range is that it's paid off when you drive off! It never hurts to low ball, if they are serious they will let you know their bottom line, and if your serious you'll buy.
Look for older hulls of name brand boats that have been repowered with recent engines; generally, you will get the boat for less than the price of a new engine. Take your time and don't be in a rush to purchase the first 'bargain' that comes along. There are always plenty of boats for sale and it is usually a buyer's market, even more so currently. Yachtworld and boattrader have plenty of listings and allow you to search on a variety of criteria. Do some searches, find some boats that appeal you, then do your research on what issues you need to look on those particular brands, both boat and engine. When you find the right boat, at least get the engine and controls checked by certified marine mechanic.
Good luck, take your time, and have fun.
