What is the top speed of boat?
cruising speed?
fuel burn at cruising speed?
What will 10k buy me? 21-23ft, with a trailer. Want a ttop and a motor that isnt underpowered, dont care about it being older as long its in good condition. Is it worth buying a 10k boat? To risky to go offshore with a boat like that?, it will spend the majority of its life in my possesion on the lakes.
It will buy you a SH-T load of charters. Save your money and book some charters. No depreation and no boat owning BS..... Sure is nice to jump off the boat, have your fish cleaned and roll. No maintenance issues, insurance, etc. Thats the route that I am going from here on out !!! It's a no brainer !!

But I'm 56 now and when I was your age I also had to go to the school of hard knocks.
I've got a 29 Intrepid now and I love it dearly, but every time I go out on a charter with my pals I catch more fish (we have a few really good charters that we use) don't have to clean any thing except the grill, don't have the trailer maintenance, and that alone is a pta, don't have to worry about where to store it, will stuff get ripped off it, the down side of boat ownership is 10 times longer than the upside. If I wasn't so upsidedown in my boat.
Let me just tell ya this....I could probably give you my boat I still owe 37,000 on and charter a boat once a month, pay the bill all by myself, take 5 of my bud's w/me and over a 10 year period probably save money, catch more fish, and not have to do any work.
I live in So. Fla. and these charters include going to Venice La., Florida Keys, Sebastian Fl.,Dry Torguas.
its hard to take friends to the lake on a charter...and its hard to hire a charter for an afternoon barbecue and some watersports. I understand what yall are saying but i dont live near the coast and going offshore will be the thing that this boat gets used the least amount for.
I would look for an older, well kept hull with newer power. Don't shy away from a 10 -15 year old hull that has been trailered -- there are some beauties out there. Just to give you an idea of the deals, a guy at my marina just bought an 18 year old 17' whaler with an almost new Mercury 75 hp 2 stroke (maybe 30 hours on it) for $4500. It needed nothing.

Exactly what i was thinking, older hull with newer power. You just dont run across those as often, because obviously if they are repowered then the owner is holding on to them.
