2001 Ficht temp light problem Just recently purchased a 2001, 115 Evinrude for my son's project boat. Had the motor checked by a dealer and EMM showed no hard or active codes. We rigged the motor and took it out several times, ran great. Then the last time out I noticed that the temp light on the Faria gauge had come on, and has remained on eversince, but motor still ran fine. I never got a check engine light nor did SLOW activate. The motor ran normally. I took it home changed water pump and checked thermostats. The temp light remains on even when the motor is cold. Checked for obstruction in EMM cooling line and vapor cannister all seamed to by ok. I attempted to retrieve service codes by using the throtle position switch/gauge method but was unable to get a responce from the gauge. Does anyone have any idea of what the problem might be? Or if there is a way to eliminate the EMM as the problem; or to ID a gauge as problem.
